La Macina — Restaurant in Monreale

Not a great experience. The location is amazing, very cozy and peculiar but there were too many problems. Long time waiting for the antipasti. I have got the involtini di pesce spada that were very dry and there was not a lot of flavour. Between the antipasto and main course we have waited at least 20min and had to ask the waiter how long would have taken. The staff was not the best, not really kind or attentive. They mixed our beer with another table ones and never checked on how was everything. The bill, they charged us a water bottle more so always check it In conclusion, the coffee we have ordered was served in a plastic cup. Not the experience I expected. The place looks really good and in a great location! But the staff is not really helpful nor the kindness I'd expect.

Waiting times are long even during a non busy night ( waited 40mins between finishing the starters and getting the next course).

About the taste, I was expecting more too especially considering higher than usual prices. The gambero was alright but nothing special, the fagottino di pesce was quite dry.

As mentioned, prices are higher than average and menu is limited on starters, first and second courses (not a bad thing) but it does not translate into quality.

DINE HERE! We were lucky enough to get a table without a booking (I suggest you try to book in advance though, especially if you’d like to sit outside in the magnificent garden). Our group ate Pizzas, Calamari dishes and steak, the food was divine, pizza dough was incredible and everything was just so well thought out and tasty.

The service by was also superb, staff were lovely and accommodating.

If we were staying longer in Monreale we would certainly recommend!
