El Merendero — Restaurant in Monte Argentario

We visited this restaurant based on positive reviews, hoping for a good Italian pizza. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The pizza was made with canned mushrooms, which is quite a letdown for a place that presents itself as an Italian pizzeria. The dough was overly salty and became hard after a short while, so overall the meal didn’t live up to expectations.

The staff was friendly during service, but as we left without leaving a tip (due to our dissatisfaction), their attitude noticeably cooled — we barely got a goodbye.

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Next time, we’ll definitely try...

If you’re looking for a good, home made pizza, I’d definitely suggest you stop at El Meredero. The owner who cooks the Pizza’s was super friendly to us, good about one of my family members allergies, and cooked a very nice pizza for us. The menus have a ton of pizzas for selection and are only in Italian but the staff was happy to help us figure out which pizza had which toppings on it. I had the Camilla pizza which had Truffle on it and it was delicious. I had a piece of my brothers pizza which was a classic Margherita which was also spectacular.
