Trattoria Da Gina — Restaurant in Montecatini Terme

Gorgeous meal. A proper Italian Trattoria, a welcome break from the endless pizza restaurants in Montecatini.

We had Gina's antipasto platter which was stunning with lots of different salami plus homemade jam, honey, cheeses and fried dough.

Service was good but the young girl failed to bring us parmesan or the desert menu which she asked us if we would like. Not to worry, we were only being piggy if we had a pudding.

The veal cheek pappardelle was beautiful, slow roasted and melt in the mouth. My partner had the Pici with garlic which was also excellent (still smelling of garlic a few days later 😁.)

Your fresh bread arrives in a paper bag which was novel. We had a litre of white wine too which was slightly sparkling. And not bad at all.

Do book if you want to go in the evening. Italians eat there, so, you know it's going to be good. Our bill was €41 which was...

At first glance doesn't depict the real picture of this amazing restaurant. Everything is amazing, from the friendly and professional staff, to the atmosphere wich is truly relaxing and lastly but almost most importaint the food. I chose the steak, while my wife chose Fusilli al Ragù Toscano. Nothing less than perfect. Potrei limitarmi a descrivere l'esperienza usando la parola PERFEZIONE ma non voglio limitarmi a questo. Tutto comincia la prima sera che abbiamo passato a Montecatini, avevamo fame, google ci ha mostrato Da Gina, a piedi ci siamo recati dal nostro albergo fino al quartierino residenziale in cui si trova l'osteria alla ricerca di un tavolo, un tavolo che ci è stato negato con gentilezza e simpatia dal cameriere con il codino perché tutto prenotato, così rassegnati siamo usciti e siamo andati alla ricerca di altro. Il giorno dopo ad ora di pranzo proviamo a prenotare per la sera stessa (un sabato) tramite whatsapp, la nostra richiesta viene accontentata e ci danno appuntamento per le 20.00. Vengono le 20.00 e noi, puntuali come un orologio svizzero, ci facciamo trovare davanti alle porte del locale, ad accoglierci una cameriera dall'aria scossa. Ci chiede se avessimo prenotato mentre dall'interno il cameriere con il codino ci faceva segno che era tutto ok, noi rispondiamo di sì e ci viene chiesto se preferiamo rimanere fuori nella veranda oppure dentro. Essendo estate l'idea di stare fuori sembrava essere buona ma dopo esserci seduti abbiamo realizzato che i teli in pvc della veranda non avrebbero fatto passare nemmeno un filo d'aria, così al momento della consegna dei menù abbiamo chiesto di trasferirci dentro creando ulteriore turbamento nella ragazza. Veniamo fatti accomodare all'interno, dove il clima era perfetto e si poteva godere di un'aria condizionata impostata sulla giusta temperatura. A prendere l'ordinazione un ragazzo pelato al quale poniamo la domanda cruciale: "basterà 1kg di fiorentima per due?" la sua risposta è stata simpatica e ci ha permesso di fare la nostra scelta. 1kg di fiorentina, 1 contorno di patate arrosto, 1 birra media.
