Restaurant Sobat markets itself as fine dining in Villasimius, but the experience was far from it. While the setting is attractive — tucked away off the main street in an open-air circular courtyard with columns, white walls, and fish-themed art — the food was deeply underwhelming, overpriced, and poor value for money.
Tables are casually set with laminated wood bases, black floral placemats, and cutlery on marble blocks, but from the very start the dining was disappointing. • Breadsticks: stale, soft, and uninspiring. A poor start for any restaurant, let alone one positioning itself as fine dining. • Stuffed Local Anchovies (€20): Just four tiny anchovies with gluten-free breadcrumbs — bland, tasting like they came straight from a jar. The portion was laughable and the price outrageous. • Spaghetti with Sardinian Red Prawn (€24): One single prawn for €24. While the pasta had some flavor from the sauce, the portion was miserly and inconsistent — pictures online show two prawns. Still overpriced either way. • Homemade Mussel Ravioli: The filling had no discernible mussel flavor, with a thin, watery broth that was completely forgettable. Nice presentation, but nothing more. • Fish of the Day (Seabass, €22): Served sous vide, it looked pale and boiled. The sweet sauce beneath was unbalanced, the skin soggy and inedible. Below average in every respect. • Veal with Capers (€18): The worst dish of the night. Chewy, sinewy, gamey-tasting meat — more like frozen stewing beef than anything suitable for a main course. I left half untouched, and staff didn’t bother to ask how the dish was.
By this point, dessert felt pointless — we skipped it. To add to the frustration, we saw other tables being offered complimentary grappa with their bill, but not ours.
Sobat was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in Sardinia. Poorly executed dishes, tiny portions, unjustifiable prices, and no sense of refinement. This is not fine dining. A waste of time and money — and I cannot...
Read moreWe had a lovely food experience at Sobat, we had heard about this new restaurant in Muravera, imagining something upmarket and sophisticated, but as Londoners coming every summer to Muravera we had much more than that. We were greeted and served by the host, Roberto, who very kindly, patiently and with genuine and discreet style explained us in detail all the options and ingredients of the rich delights available, which are changed and updated frequently, with a particular care to use local products. Not only the meals chosen were delicious and exquisite, it felt like a food journey, from the presentation, to the sophistication and passion put in the product, we loved every moment and every taste of it. Real high quality, also in the restaurant settings, starting from the open kitchen to the furnishing and the view from our table. I would warmly recommend Sobat to everyone, it’s really unique and not only for the Muravera- Sarrabus scene, coming us from London we can honestly say that it has an amazing quality and nothing to envy to the best global...
Read moreIn an understated town, apart from the quirky eye catching paintings adorning its walls we found this gem of a restaurant quite by chance. Sophisticated decor, calm, unhurried, knowledgeable and extremely personal service, …. cooking of the highest order together with exquisite presentation it was an evening we will remember for a long time to come … and the best meal we ate on our week long trip to Sardinia. Never set eyes on a cheese board like it .. almost too pretty to eat …tacos with prawns on another level …. such delicate touches. Who would have thought vegan and fish ravioli could look so aesthetically pleasing too, the top of mine imprinted with an intricate pattern…. tastebuds tingled with each mouthful. Sumptuously rich desserts were also a work of art in themselves. Recommended wines were equally perfect With such talent on show something tells me this restaurant is going places … a culinary memory we will treasure , and I feel privileged to be part of...
