We left rather disappointed when considering this is an expensive Michelin starred restaurant.

We had the signature 5-course meal with 5x wine pairings. While there were a few elements of the meal that were delicious, the majority of it was underwhelming. The presentation of the food was excellent, but the flavours were just very pedestrian.

The cuttlefish cheek tasted of nothing (probably why they added so many additional sauces), and the sea bass was also bland - and why sea bass? it's a perfectly decent protein but it's so widely available, I would expect a more interesting fish at a restaurant that claims to be prolific.

The dessert was particularly disappointing - a kind of mousse/trifle thing that just didn't hit the mark. It was a little grainy, and didn't give the unctuous, luxurious finish to the meal that I always hope for from a dessert.

The wine pairings were good, but none of them really set off the dishes. In previous experience, a perfectly paired wine sets off fireworks in the mouth, but these ones, while certainly complimentary, didn't really add any magic to the meal.

The service was fantastic throughout the meal.

At the end of the night, the venue ordered us a taxi and we were asked to wait outside. After 10 minutes waiting we were then told that there was no longer a taxi booked and the we would need to walk to the nearest taxi rank. 40 minutes later and we were still walking (approx midnight by then)... not an ideal finish to a meal.

Finally - it's worth noting that there are two Palazzo Petrucci's - one of them is a pizzeria in the centre of Naples, the other is a 20 minute taxi out of town. They're easily confused on Google Maps (we turned up to the wrong one initially!). It'd be a good idea to include this note in the booking process to help other visitors...

Great dishes but ultimately underwhelming given the price and Michelin star.

Some spectacular dishes included the first dish with raw shrimp crudo and mozzarella- very interesting combo that somehow works although the sprouts were a bit unnecessary, and the calamari pasta- where strips of thinly sliced calamari were twisted and treated as linguine noodles- tender, well seasoned, and quite creative (although I’ve since seen it in a few places). There was also an excellent shellfish and eel pasta where the sauce was a concentrated jus presumably made from shellfish that was very savoury and umami, perfectly coating a small portion of spaghetti noodles.

Some misses included the cold noodles- bit underseasoned, and topped with bland mussels that were a bit too soft, the red snapper which was lacking in depth of any flavour other than olive oil, and ultimately overshadowed by the zucchini on the plate which were excellent, and the duck, which was very chewy, underseasoned, and quite challenging to cut given the less than optimal cook- the accompanying basil cream was also a bit of a puzzling combination that did not work for me.

The desserts were playful and overall quite delicious. The service was impeccable and the view from the seating by the windows is absolutely spectacular particularly as the evening darkens. For me it doesn’t quite justify the price, and would be on the lower end of 1 Michelin star places I’ve had but overall a pleasant...

I am simply shocked about this restaurant and their policy. I did an online reservation some weeks in advance. I got contacted by the restaurant a week prior to the planned visit via WhatsApp to confirm the reservation and to send a picture of my credit card details as a guarantee. As I said I do not feel comfortable to send my confidential details via an unprotected WhatsApp chat, the restaurant was still insisting on some guarantee. They wanted me to pay 75€ per person up front and send me their IBAN to do the payment. So I have to pay even before going there? Ridiculous! What do they think who I am? I prebooked all restaurants for my holiday and showed up everywhere with no exception. If they are afraid of people not showing up, then they should not run a restaurant. It can always happen that you cannot make it because you get sick, but then I would call and cancel my booking. In addition I do believe it is not even legal to ask customers to send credit card details via WhatsApp due to EU data protection laws. I could not believe it! Probably the food is great, but the way to get there is unaccaptable and as a potential guest you do not feel welcome as the restaurant insinuates from the beginning you will not show up. And seriously who wants to pay 75€ per person without even been there or seeing the...

I was expecting little after some unprofessional booking hiccup, but they made up for it. You are first welcome in a lounge with large open windows, where you can enjoy an aperitif drink and some amuse-bouche with a view on the Vesuvio. Then they'll take you downstairs, where the dinner will get served with the same view on the Vesuvio. You can select from pre-composed menus or let yourself be surprised by the chef (either 5 or 7 servings). I chose the latter and I wasn't disappointed with the sea food items, which I particularly recommend here. The deserts were wonderful. The rest was not mind-blowing but up to the standards. The service is nice and considerate, ready to help, to call a taxi for you or to provide you with the name of their playlist (contributing to their amazing atmosphere). The staff is always a bit "impatient" as it is customary in Napoli: you feel like you have to do things their way, but not to the point where it can ruin the evening.
