Honestly what an experience!!! Since this is a restaurant review, I’ll start there, but please read below a story about how we found the restaurant. Pizza was incredible! Delicious and perfectly cooked. A must if you’re visiting Ostuni! You won’t be let down.
We arrived to Ostuni at 10pm and were completely lost due to really awful instructions on how to get where we were staying. An hour later, we stumbled through this lovely restaurant’s outdoor patio (which truly is the most beautiful patio and street I have seen on our trip), with full suitcases and all. A lovely man, (perhaps the owner?), saw us struggling with suitcases and despair, and offered to help us. He quite literally carried my luggage down flights of stairs and walked us right to our apartment door! We wouldn’t have found it without him. We were one pathway away from giving up and sitting on the street until the rental company got back to us in the morning.
We got into our room, changed and went back out for dinner (had been travelling since 10am so we were positively starving and exhausted). Naturally we went to his restaurant but they had just closed! He spotted us and asked a server to make us a pizza to go that we could eat in our room, as most places would be closed at that point. Just truly so beyond kind to keep the kitchen open for one more pizza after they had closed. I am blown away by his kindness. Please take the time to visit this restaurant. The servers were incredibly nice, the food amazing, and honestly this gentleman saved us.
We are going back tomorrow night....
Read moreVery rude staff, terrible experience, charged €5 table cover fee for 2 drinks. First we waited 10 minutes for an order to be taken, at which time we said just coffee & juice please. Another waiter then arrived and asked what we want to eat, which we said no food just drink. He then rudely started saying how it was a restaurant, and to sit outside we need food, although there were around 6 spare tables should other customers arrive, and no previous mention of this by the first waiter. After explaining that his colleague had already taken our order for just drinks he rudely started muttering ‘okay fine just for you, just for you’ in a sarcastic and passive aggressive way. Then when we came to pay they added a €5 table fee without first showing me the bill, just presenting the card machine for contactless. Only on reviewing receipt did I see this and was just told bluntly ‘this is a...
Read moreThe orecchiette with cime di rapa were disappointing. The come di rapa were blended into a smooth cream that didn't taste like much and removed the nice texture that cime di rapa usually adds. The dish was a little bland overall, lacking salt and perhaps a touch of peperoncino.
The pizzas were generally decent, and pasta with meat ragu was pretty solid too.
The Tiramisù didn't have the biscuits soaked in espresso and had Nutella in it so was not a traditional tiramisu as you'd expect. The mascarpone cream lacked lightness and was very heavy. Overall, the dish ended up being too sweet and too heavy, lacking the bitter notes that usually complement the sweeter flavours.
The food and drinks all came quickly. Slightly untypically quickly for Italy.
Very nice place to sit outside but a touristic restaurant with service and prices in...
