I’ve had the best and worst meal of my life in Italy. Unfortunately this one is the worst. Run away from this place. Let’s start with the waiters, one of them (brown T-shirt and glasses) was the worst waiter I’ve ever met. Some tourist who didn’t speak Italian asked him for a reservation and because of a misunderstanding, when they left he insulted them saying to other clients than “since Covid people have real mental problems”. First don’t insult people, they didn’t deserve it. Then the entire time he seems sooo annoyed at everything and everyone, not even one smile. He then came to take my plate and I asked if he had oat milk for the cappuccino because I am allergic to milk. He sighed, was so annoyed at me and said no we only have normal milk for cappuccino. Sir, I didn’t chose to be allergic to milk, stop being so offended by such a small question, you didn’t need to sigh so loudly. I understand that it’s a hard job and tourist sometimes don’t understand everything but if you hate your job so much, just quit. Go explore the world, do something else but don’t ruin people’s vacation. We pay a ton of money to come to your city and we pay your salary ! (There was literally only foreigners in the restaurant). When I went to pay I was so mad at my time there than I didn’t say thank you, so he started repeating louder and louder Thank you, THANK YOU, THAAANK YOUU for me to answer and because I didn’t, he insulted me in Italian. (You could clearly understand his tone of voice) I will not lower myself to you and won’t insult you back but you should sincerely change. You would think he was like that because he was overwhelmed with client, but noooo when I arrived there was only three other tables. The food was sooo disgusting, it was like eating water with spinach. I ate the plate only because it was SO expensive ! In total €21 for a small plate of tasteless pasta (hard to do in Italy). The other waiter welcomed me so well, he spoke French and was funny but even him stopped being so polite as soon as I refused to order drinks. But still he was okay with me. The only reason this place keeps working is because it’s beautiful over there. I will never come back and for sure will tell everyone one I know to avoid this place. I regret spending money and my last meal in Italy at this place. Thank you yes, for ruining...

(Ignore the tourists whining about not being able to bring children. This is not a child-focused / family-focused place; this is a classy, cool dining experience that is better without screaming children. There are other places a family can go if you their child wants bland mac-and-cheese while breaking dishes.)
Our party of four came here around 8pm with no reservation and they were able to seat us after we waited with drinks on their terrace for about 20 minutes. We ate some of the most remarkable food I've ever had in Italy, in an absolute gorgeous garden patio.
We had the orecchiette, "new" burger, sea urchin bucatini, roasted duck leg, and octopus with watermelon. We also had cocktails, which were fantastic. The orecchiette was excellent, which is pretty much to be expected in Puglia. The "new" burger was a weird "deconstructed" ground beef patty with extra sear that my partner really enjoyed. The sea urchin bucatini pasta was....hard to put into words. It took flavor right up to the edge of too much brininess, but in the best way. I will be thinking about this sea urchin dish for years to come, and comparing all other sea urchin pasta to it. The roasted duck leg was phenomenal; my friend put his face in his hands when he took his first bite. It is probably the best prepared duck I have ever eaten. The octopus and watermelon was another revelation. On its own, the octopus was quite meaty and a large portion - but with a mouthful of seared watermelon, the explosion of juices, saltiness, and sweetness was a redefinition of how to prepare and eat seafood.
The owner's wife does all the cooking, while he does a lot of the waiting tables, greeting, and so on. I absolutely love that setup, and the fact that they bantered and knew the names of some of the other regular diners.
This is a restaurant that I will remember for a long time, if not forever, and I plan to go back to as often...
Read moreThis review is about Coffee & More's Gabo Restaurant. Avoid at all costs!! Whe place has a nice terrace garden and ambience, the staff is highly insensitive and lacks knowledge. I'm going to share my experience from today for some background. I ordered a soup that specified different lentils, legumes and vegetables in its ingredients. I'm gluten intolerant, and just to be sure, I double checked with them that it doesn't have gluten (in spite of it not mentioning it explicitly). They assured me that there's no gluten in the soup as confirmed by the chef. However, when the soup arrived and i noticed barley in it, i again checked with them. To this, they again tell me that there is no gluten. Unfortunately, I wasn't sure what grain it was, before googling it. So i went ahead and had it. And checked on Google on after eating it, to find that the similar looking grain was barley and that it is high in gluten! When i complained to the staff of my findings again, they paid no heed and said "ok. So do you want the dessert or just the bill?". I left after the payiing the bill. Now I'm praying that i don't have major digestion issues due to this restaurant's ignorance and insensitivity. Avoid avoid avoid if you want to be at a place that cares for it's guests. Ristorante Taverna della Ginosia, just a few steps away from Coffee & More's Gabo Restaurant, is way better at managing allergies and taking care...
