My wife and I recently purchased a hone in the beautiful city of Ostuni, a beautiful city with beautiful streets beautiful people and beautiful food. I made my first trip to Il Posto Affianco about five months ago with a couple of wonderful local friends from this area for what they said was the best pizza in the area, which Iām pleased to say they were right, the crust is perfect, crispy and golden the dough is excellent and the toppings are great quality and everything is seasoned perfectly. Last night, we struggled to find a place to eat, being that it was our last night before leaving our little city for a few months, and we decided to go back here but try something different on the menu. We again were not disappointed this may have been the best meal I have had this summer. We started with a couple of coctails, negroni and spritz both lovely and with our meal a bottle of their Attanasio Primitivo di manduria It's an absolutely perfect wine from a very impressive wine list. Our meal consisted of Crocchette di baccalĆ or Cod-fish croquettes served on homemade passion fruit cream and crusco sweet pepper. This was lovely, and I had to battle forva bite from my wife. It was a crispy and lovely soft, delicious center accented by the wonderful sauce. Next, the Frittura di calamari or fried calamari with homemade mayo made with capers and cucumber. This was excellent, and the caper cucumber sace was magical. My wife and I shared the Fettuccine dellāubriacone or Drunken fettuccini, which is fettuccine cooked in red wine and sautĆ©ed with sausage and provola cheese and basil. You must get this it was amazing, so amazing that I used my bread to get every bit of the sauce off my plate. My main course was the Spiedo di bombette or skewers of fresh pork meat rolls usually stuffed with cheese salt and pepper, served with grilled eggplant, and mustard a very traditional dish for the area andvexpertly done perfectly seasoned with a crispy exterior and tender and juicy in the center this couldnāt have been made more perfect and I was stuffed from everythingbelse we ate but I ate every last bite of it . My wife had the Tagliata di manzo, or beef steak served with caciocavallo cheese, local rocket. Again, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned rare to medium rare and tender like cutting through butter. Now, the service we were greeted immediately and brought to not the greatest table, but in their defense, we picked it so not their fault. We were quickly greeted by a very nice waiter. Sorry, I didnāt get his name. I should have asked before leaving, but you know who you are. He was great and did a great wine service with a decanter that is a rarity, but he knew what he was doing. It soon began to pour rain, so he grabbed everything he could, saving most importantly our wine and ran us inside to a much better table luckily and then restored everything to normal so that was so nice and so well done. The rest of the staff who also helped with delivering food and clearing the table were excellent as well everything was brought to us in a timely manner hot and perfect and as we left we were warmly thanked for coming from everyone . I really loved this wonderful restaurant nestled in the labyrinth that are the streets of the old Town Ostuni, everything about it my only complaint is now I have to wait till I come back again in a few months . Until then, I will dream of what to get next time and relive my meal in my memories. Thank-you everyone ant Il Posto Affianco!! We...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped here for dinner due to the nice looking menu and ambience. We initially didnāt want a starter but when the waitress said that my dish the skewers of pork rolls takes a while to make and suggested we had a starter, we said we would get one. We chose the Burrata salad which was not very presentable, lovely cheese but could do with some dressing. We had not even finished our starter when our mains came to the table. Far too quickly and we didnāt even have room on the table for the dishes. Waitress explicitly stated main would take a while. This was very frustrating. My dish was tasty. My husband had drunken fettuccine which was not very warm. We looked around and the table next to us (Italians) had the same issue and they complained also about all the food coming within 10 minutes, no chance to sit and enjoy the meal like you should. Clearly all a just a selling tactic. It ruined our meal and I would just be aware if ordering here that will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a truly wonderful experience in every possible way. First and foremost my server Rosella was so friendly and professional as well as beautiful. Everyone was so positive and warm. The atmosphere was of your choosing. Sunny courtyard or upper terrace, shaded courtyard or inside seating. Mellow music playing. The food was some of the best I had in my three month Southern Italy trip. Excellent bread, followed by a complimentary small starter which was delicious. My first course was a specialty of theirs orecchiette with a cheese sauce, vegetables and tomatoes in a cheese basket. It was amazing and Iāll be thinking about it for a long time. My second course was sea bream with tomatoes and it was enjoyable as well. The wine Rosella recommended from the region was perfect. Somehow I found room for desert and the Tiramisu was outstanding. Donāt miss this place if you are in Ostuni, even if youāre not it might be worth a...
