Antico Brolo l'Osteria — Restaurant in Padua

I am writing this review in behalf of my son and his girlfriend taking out a friend that they were visiting in Padova.

They got a table at 19.10 and after taking their order, they were told they had to leave at 20.00. The waiter was at their table every ten minutes to tell them they had to leave at 20.00. The owner of the place also said they had to leave. When my son decided to leave and asked for the check, he was told food was on its way. It was 19.58.

I think the owner needs to review how he conducts himself regarding customer service. I find it hard to believe that an Italian restaurant will provide this terrible experience. Nobody deserved this. It saddens me to think that they came all the way to Italy to enjoy a good meal, just to find this awful place.

I would like to add that they checked the reviews and they were great. Then I wonder, are they fake reviews?

I would be more than happy to talk to anybody from the restaurant, if they wish...

Sono stato in questo locale ieri sera per una festa di dottorato. Mi è piaciuto subito il posto, davvero un bel locale, elegante ma con un tocco che richiama la tradizione (come vuole il nome "Osteria"). Il cibo che ci è stato servito (avevamo un menù concordato) era molto buono e ho mangiato volentieri tutto. L'unica nota dolente, ma molto dolente, è stato il servizio. Il cameriere che ci è stato assegnato ha mantenuto un comportamento molto scherzoso per gran parte della serata, forse perché eravamo tutte persone sulla trentina, che potrebbe essere anche simpatico ma è stato poco professionale considerando anche l'atmosfera generale del locale. Verso le 22-22.30 circa ha tolto tutti i bicchieri da vino dai tavoli senza chiederci se li volessimo tenere, di fatto impedendoci di bere ancora qualora avessimo voluto altro vino. Alle 23 è tornato in sala annunciando con tono irritato che il locale chiudeva alle 24 e che per quell'ora dovevamo avere già pagato ed essere tutti fuori, costringendoci di fatto a finire in fretta e furia, poi si è messo seduto a un angolo della stanza a guardarci con aria irritata per più di mezz'ora mentre andavamo avanti con la lettura del papiro cercando di ignorarlo, anche se eravamo tutti abbastanza irritati dalla cosa (saremo stati una ventina di persone circa). È poi uscito per tornare alle 23.30, interrompendo bruscamente la festeggiata che stava aprendo un regalo che le avevamo fatto per dirle, sempre in modo scontroso, che la proprietaria voleva che lei pagasse il conto subito, per poi tornare nel suo angolino a "vegliare" su di noi fino a quando, verso le 23.50, ce ne siamo andati. Non ho nulla da ridire sulla politica del locale a chiudere alle 24 e sul fatto che tutti dovessero pagare e andarsene prima, ma sul modo in cui siamo stati trattati. Di certo poteva approcciarsi a noi in modo molto più professionale e senza far trasparire la sua fin troppo evidente irritazione, rovinando l'atmosfera di festa per un traguardo molto importante nella vita della mia amica. Consiglio vivamente alla titolare di rivedere l'atteggiamento dei propri dipendenti: non importa se il cliente è una coppia distinta o una comitiva di trentenni in festa, il mestiere richiede che tutti i clienti vengano trattati con...

Good standard food We have wanted to try this place for a long time hearing mixed reviews we decided to go. There is nothing bad to say about this place (other than the sticky floors on the way to the bathroom), it is standard Italian food. Nothing to make you go wow, nothing to make you complain. We did notice that it was somewhere people seemed to refuel and leave or as one group stayed and talked even though they had long finished eating. The service is quick, but lacking in anything but utilitarian duty. If you want something that will keep you going, traditional to the area, but don't want to be wowed then eat here.
