Osteria San Leonardo NUOVA GESTIONE — Restaurant in Padua

Nothing fancy - it's a tavern type vibe, paper menu is your placemat and a small stump of wood on the table with your table number written with a black sharpie. Ok, let's look past all that. We placed our order and my plate came within about 7 minutes. Great! We waited for my husband's plate (we both ordered pasta dishes) and we waited. Twenty minutes went by and we called a waiter over, gesturing to the missing meal in front of my husband. 10 more minutes went by. We decided I should eat mine... it was cold, bland and unappetizing, but I ate it. After I finished, my husband's meal arrived, but the pasta was clearly under cooked. The waiter agreed and back it went! Almost 40 minutes into our dinner and my husband still had no food. We ate the bread out of the paper bag on the table and drank our bottle of wine. Beautiful little osteria in the heart of the old city. Exquisite local dishes—pasta al nero di seppia, al sugo di coniglio, pollo ed anatra are only two of them but the cook has many more “secret”recipes up his sleeve—jolly local wine on the house to start the meal. Home made deserts irresistible. Friendly atmosphere, staff courteous to a fault, the ladies at our table even got a red rose each at leaving! Il San Leonardo mi piace per l'atmosfera da vecchia osteria e per il menù che propone ma questa volta la cena è stata un po' "agrodolce". Sebbene i piatti fossero tutti molto gradevoli, il servizio ha lasciato molto a desiderare. Bene per il menu, originale e invitante, con proposte che ci hanno soddisfatto. Il servizio invece è risultato un po' improvvisato, il personale di sala sembrava inesperto e disorganizzato, con evidenti difficoltà nella gestione dei tavoli e delle comande. Le portate arrivavano a singhiozzo, una alla volta per commensale (eravamo in 4), con attese lunghe, costringendoci a mangiare i piatti freddi o ad iniziare a mangiare da soli. La distribuzione dei piatti "a singhiozzo" ha favorito differenze nella quantità di cibo, lo stesso tipo di cibo, servito nei diversi piatti. Maggiore attenzione e attenzione alle comande eviterebbe queste uscite a "piatto singolo" davvero sgradevoli. Ultimo ma non ultimo: non eravamo stati informati del servizio "a turni" e, alla fine della cena, siamo stati (garbatamente) invitati a liberare il tavolo. Il San Leonardo ha un grande potenziale culinario, il servizio necessita di un miglioramento.
