Caffè Sant'Antonio Padova — Restaurant in Padua

I told them I needed the bathroom, but wanted my coffee to be hot. I came out of the bathroom to coffee(espresso) waiting for me. They were rude from the start. I am aware that I should speak more Italian than I do. But, I don't. However, eventually they switched to fully functional English when they wanted me to pay for a cold espresso that sat while I went to the bathroom. I refused the coffee after their response to me repeating that I wanted a hot coffee, was, you can pay for 2 coffees. There happened to be an under cover cop very close. Who cam up as the barista yelled that I have to pay. I spoke with the officer, meanwhile refusing to pay for the cold coffee I did NOT drink. They were rude. This little cafe is very conveniently located between Prato della Valle and the Sant’Antonio Basilica. Despite its location it is clearly meant to service a local crowd with traditional sweets, very good coffee (their decaf options were also very good) and very popular prices. I was excited to try some fresh pomegranate juice but for 3 euro it’s a rip off. They use 1.5 pomegranates, a tiny mouthwash size cup that is filled with ice, and they don’t even fill the glass.
