Le Follie Dello Chef — Restaurant in Palermo

Went there on a whim after we found it on Google maps, It's a steak house, but don't let it fool you. It's much more than that.

We showed up early for dinner because we just got in Palermo that day, and my family was hungry. We walked in and ask if we can sit inside with the AC, the owner agree cause it was every hot and humid, the chef greeted us as after he walked in, I guess to start his shift for dinner, he asked us what we wanted for dinner, we didn't know, so he asked to trust him and he'll make us something we won't forget.

This chef went above and beyond, for starters steamed clams soaked in lemon juice that came out perfect, soft and tender, followed by a platter of prawns and mussels steamed and full of flavor, next the main dish of pasta with prawns, and followed by a small dessert that completed the entire night.

The chef asked us to trust him to bring us some of his best dishes, and he did not disappoint. I'm not a fan of seafood, but this man has probably made me want to eat more of it.

I did say it was a steak house, but the chef knows what he is doing. I hope more people come by to eat here. They have only been open for a year, but I hope they are here when we come back for...

I was walking from Monreale to t Palermo city center. I searched for some restaurant for a dinner. This one looked good on the reviews. So I went there The restaurant owner advices me to take some aged and special beef for a steak. I agreed and asked medium rare. What did I receive? Well-done! I had to pick google and show images to explain the difference. Reaction from the restaurant: "Sorry!" Wines? The stuff had no clue what they have and which one would pair well with a steak. Finally, the bill. I asked the waiter three times, how much the steak costs. He told me three times: 22€. When I received the bill, it was 45€. After I pointed out the discrepancy, they re-calculated the bill. But what did I receive! "Sorry!" No extra wine glass, no extra drink as an excuse, nothing. So here is my conclusion: if you are just want to eating something, drinking some random wine, this place is fine. Just as another random pizzeria nextdoor. If you are a real foodie, you know the difference between rare and medium rare, you know which wines pair with your steak, better find some better place... And yes, check...

Cena ieri sera in questo locale. Esperienza pessima. Ordiniamo due spaghetti ai ricci, il primo piatto che arriva è pieno di aglio! sembrava di mangiare aglio con la pasta! Decisamente immangiabile. Faccio presente l'inconveniente al cameriere il quale lo fa presente alla proprietaria. Mi preparano nuovamente la pasta,ma succede che però questa volta la pasta è ancora peggio della prima. Mi servono un piatto di pasta che sembra il cibo dell'ospedale! La polpa di ricci non pervenuta...bisognava cercarla al programma "Chi l'ha visto" . Faccio presente l'inconveniente alla proprietaria la quale mi risponde che è la presentazione del piatto ad essere diversa e mi invita a guardare bene. Giro lo spaghetto e mi accorgo che ci sono due pezzi di polpa; nel fondo solo un po' di brodo e prezzemolo a iosa sopra. Per completare uno spicchio d'aglio abbandonato al centro del piatto che non era sicuramente servito per fare alcun tipo di soffritto. Orribile a vedersi,figuriamoci a mangiarsi. Dalle 8:15 siamo arrivati alle 9:30 e io sono ancora digiuna, decido quindi di farmi portare un tagliere di pesce della selezione mix follie. al suddetto tagliere che arriva mancano le polpette di pesce, La bufala accostata al salmone e gli involtini di pesce spada. Senza infamia e senza lode! inoltre manca il cocktail incluso nel tagliere e lo faccio presente al cameriere e pur di non disquisire ancora opto per mezza coca zero. arrivano anche delle patate con fonduta,molto buona. Arriviamo al momento del conto ,che è pari a €75,50 arrotondati a €70 . pago e ovviamente viene incluso nel prezzo anche il piatto di pasta immangiabile che mi era stato servito! Il tutto davanti al menefreghismo della proprietaria che inizialmente si è mostrata gioviale e disponibile, che a fine serata però ci ha dato le spalle e non ha nemmeno risposto al saluto quando siamo andati via.
