We were on our way to Lucca and decided to take the seaside route up the coast a bit. Well, Livorno is quite commercial. That's ok. Not everything can be tourist oriented: you have to have a place to conduct enterprise, too! But, up the road a bit we entered this little area south of Pisa and decided to stop and was able to drive right up to this charming, folksy and home spun restaurant. This is not a super fancy place, this is a famiglia place, just like an old time place someone in America from the tri-state region would find in an Italian neighborhood, but, the food here is better (don't tell anybody back home).
I had the zuppa de pesce, or at least that's what I think it was called. It was amazing! The tomato based broth imbued with fish stock and ladled over a piece of bread, dotted with all manner of seafood was just amazing. Honestly?
