Ristorante Ossidiana Bistrot - Ponza — Restaurant in Ponza

We arrived about 7:00pm and there was nobody there. We asked if we could sit near the wall where the view is better. We were told (not nicely) that those tables were taken. We explained that we don’t take long dinners and would likely be gone before they all arrived. We were still told “no”. I wanted to leave at that point, but my partner thought we should give it a try. He later regretted that decision. We started with the greens and eggplant parmigiana. The greens tasted old like they were made a long time ago and going bad. The eggplant was fairly good. I had pasta with red sauce and langoustine. The langoustine was good, but not enough of it. The pasta was slightly over cooked. The red sauce was extremely bland. My partner had the mixed fried fish which he said was average. It was an expensive dinner for mediocre food and not friendly service. I would recommend to pass this restaurant. By the way…the tables we wanted to sit at and told “no”… they were empty the entire time...

We were just in Ponza for the day and after sightseeing & swimming we were ready for lunch! After strolling down the line of restaurants looking at menus we came to the end. As we were studying the menu, the waiter greeted us and asked if he could help with the translation. Although his English wasn’t perfect, it was better than our Italian (which is none), he explained every item. Our choice was made not because of that menu selection but because of the genuine hospitality he had shown to us. We had a seat under their covered patio ordered a bottle of Prosecco and placed our food order. We got the mussels, the fried squid& shrimp, eggplant Parmesan, linguini w/clams and a large salad. After reading the amazing reviews we decided to give it a try, we do not recommend. One dish was sea food which was fried with over use of salt and then we had also the risotto which was nothing special, badly spiced. The waiters even brought the wrong dish. With the salty sea food i decided to request some salad. I could have not been more disappointed. Nothing was fresh, the portion was very small and without even a dressing... Overall the price point was extremely high for the experience that the restaurant...
