Al Gabbiano — Restaurant in Porto Venere

Wanna talk about food and a view? Let’s talk. The entire menu is on point! I like food, food is life. That being said, this place has ruined any other Italian restaurant for me. The Caprese salad burrata cheese was to die for and that just where we get started. The wife had some fish thing, it’s not how I roll, but she adored it! Then we get into the prosciutto pizza which was absolutely mouth watering. Want desert? The tiramisu is beyond words! The espresso is outstanding, granted it’s hard to mess that up. But last but not least let’s talk about the lasagna…. Ya, I saved it for after the desert. There is no known words to man to describe it… Its perfectly layered. The pasta is aldente the way it should be. It was so amazing I had to take one back for tonight!! Ladies and gentlemen, of all the reviews I’ve done, this one is the one you need to pay attention to. Come here, enjoy the view, it great food. Come alone, come with a loved one or a friend. But if you ever only eat a one Italian place, this...

OMG! Stopped here for a quick bite to eat at Porto Venere so ordered a Foccace Pinsa David and Mariniola..... these must be the world's best take on a sandwich EVER!

The Pinsa base (not Pizza) is so good (also works as their base for their version of the pizza), light and tasty that it makes the inside of the foccace pale in comparison. I can see an American franchise taking this idea an running with it as it is so uniquely done.

Not expensive restaurant and probably has the best location on the Porto waterfront too!

No one greeted us nor showed us where we can sit so we went to the icecream counter, ordered icecream, paid and sat on a table. The waiter came yelling that we cannot sit there because it was reserved and pointed to the placemat on the table yelling that we put the icecream on it and made it wet. The placemat is paper by the way and can be easily replaced. I think the meaning of tourism and hospitality is misunderstood by this place. The icecream on another hand tasted like pure sugar with no other flavor. Needless to say we're never...
