La Taverna di Venere — Restaurant in Porto Venere

Very busy place this Sunday noon hour! We had the roasted vegetables, which was served with fresh pesto that made the dish great & the lasagne - which was the best that both my wife and I have ever had! Most of the Italian dishes that we’ve had in Italy have not surpassed the same dishes at some top end Italian restaurants in N.America....this lasagne was an exception. The service was good considering how busy they were. Samuel’s Mom ( the owner) is such a sweet lady that spoke little English. With 2 glasses of good house red wine - our bill was only 30euros. Very exceptional value vs. Other places. The view is amazing as well as you’re on the water at the best point in PortoVenere. My tour group stopped at this village for about 45 minutes. My friend and I decided on this restaurant of all at the port and it was an amazing choice. The prosciutto was absolutely perfect, and although the spaghetti with clams took a bit to come out, thats to be expected with seafood. It was the best pasta and most well seasoned clams Ive ever had. Amazingly garlicky, al dente, and wonderful service. I ended up taking my order to go simply because my boat was leaving. Delicious food, good wine, friendly staff and a fantastic view! Starting with a very warm greeting which we (tried) to do in Italien, we ordered the White House wine which was ver fruity and perfectly chilled. The seafood pasta I had as primo piati was very hearty, fresh and flavorful. The same goes for the salmon pasta of my boyfriend. Then the swordfish was perfect has well, had a great texture and the sauce was a great creamy pendant. The torta della Nona which I had for desert was great too, especially that awesome Lemon taste!
