Very beautiful restaurant, especially in the evening or night is the ambiente perfect. Panoramic view upon the church across the street and into the valley next to it.
The menu is qritten on a chalkboard in Italian, but for non-Italian speakers it's carefully and patiently explained in English. The food arrived very quickly in our case and tasted absolutely delicious. The wine selection is also very good and I found the wine recommended to me to be very good! For three persons, we ate our bellies full and still only paid about 100€, which is a great prize. I can imagine it goes up to 50 to 60€ per person if you pick yourself a full menu from the starters and main courses, but that depends on the person, I guess. All in all, my commendations to chef and staff, I'm very happy to have been your guest. :) And to everyone reading this review, I highly recommend visiting the Trattoria Agli Archi if you're ever around, it's a great place that I will definitely return to if I ever get...
Read moreThe terrace here overlooks the main junction of all the lanes between Ragusa Ibla and Ragusa Superiore, and it’s fun watching people walking by and all the car drivers who aren’t sure whether to go left or right. The menu here is on a large blackboard and the owner reads patiently through the whole list. Unfortunately, we are not the most decisive of people and so had to get him to come back after we had discussed it all ourselves. The personal touch of ‘menu reading’ is endearing but we feel a back up of (even) a hand-written menu would be good. The food was excellent - as expected because it has a good reputation - but we found the service rather cool and more reserved than we would prefer. We had to ask for the wine menu. I admit we felt a bit awkward and didn’t linger for coffee afterwards. Funnily enough, the service in the ground-floor bar is excellent - all smiles and friendliness. We really do recommend the bar as a good resting place...
Read moreVery good restaurant with a nice terrace in an excellent location. Agli Archi Trattoria is located between the old and new towns of Ragusa on a bustling atmospheric piazza. The terrace is very nice with a great, elevated view of the square and the Chiesa Anime Sante del Purgatorio. The interior is very small and so if you want to eat inside you will definitely need a reservation.
The food was very good with a hand written menu that changes frequently. This is a great touch and makes it feel far less touristy and more authentic to have a menu that fluctuates with seasonality, etc. The only drawback (for tourists) is that it was entirely in Italian and so the poor waitress had to translate it to us, which she did in its entirety, in flawless English - overall excellent service! The wine menu was also very good with plenty of local options at fair prices. Definitely our favourite spot in Ragusa and highly...
