We went there, as it had 2 Michelin stars. The whole experience was rather disappointing, starting with the service and continuing with the food. The ambience and decoration were great though. The main waiter never smiled during the whole stay and was very rude with us. Welcoming words like: "You do not HAVE to order wine, but it is strongly recommended!", said with cold tone are not welcoming in any way. As for the food - we ordered 2 appetisers Ala Carte and the waiter missed one of these. How complicated is to remember 2 dishes? He apologised with a really cold tone. The appetisers were rather delicious. Recommend the octopus and the sea food. The big disappointment was the main dishes. My beef seemed very old and was so impossible to chew that I would classify it as disgusting. No one asked me how I wanted it to be prepared. The lamb was fresh, but absolutely tasteless and nothing special about it. The pasta was OK, fish was relatively good, but without being special at all. The desserts (menu by another chef) were really good. Especially the strawberry and lemon desserts were fantastic. I would expect much better service from a 2 star Michelin restaurant and much better food for this price. Really do not get how this restaurant owned the 2 stars. It is not worth even 1 star. Just as a remark - I have eaten beef at three other places in Sicily and everywhere else it was WAY better than in this restaurant. Definitely not worth visiting it. An average street restaurant anywhere in Sicily would be better...
Read moreThis is one of the best Michelin restaurants I visited. The interiors are absolutely fantastic. The furniture (all either white or transparent) allows the walls of the cave to be the main feature of the room. The hospitality of the people working there absolutely amazing. All were very professional but also kind and warm. This is an incredible plus in my eyes since most Michelin restaurants feel very formal to me. This was the place were you could feel at ease and at the same time served with the efficiency you would expect from such a place. And food... Pure delight. I took the 6 course tasting menu and definitely did not regret. The black spaghetti with sea urchin (looking a bit like etna) was the absolute hit. The second contender to the title of the best dish was pork belly of the Sicilian black pig. Most succulent, full of natural flavors with the hint of sweetness from the caramelized crust. Absolute heaven. I truly believe that whoever comes to Ragusa ibla must visit this place. At the very minimum for lunch when prices are very affordable. I heartily...
Read moreGood restaurant, but we expected more. The location is amazing - a restaurant carved in stone yet so elegant.
Amuse bouche were amazing, each one of them, kudos to the chef. Main dishes of the tasting menu were good but nothing too special. The menu is not balanced enough, as we were full before the dessert, and this was only a 5 course tasting menu! We ate at Michelin starred restaurants with 15 and even 28 dishes which were more well composed.
Service was ok but nothing special, can expect more from a Michelin star restaurant. Sommelier didn't give enough explanations on the wine, service wasn't consistent across tables, and the table was only cleaned upon request.
For the price, I would likely not go...
