Review of La Petite Langoustine – Rimini
One year ago, La Petite Langoustine delivered an experience that bordered on the sublime. The seamless confluence of ambiance, attentive service, and exquisite cuisine evoked the hallmarks of a restaurant aspiring to be at the pinnacle of gastronomy. It was, simply put, a testament to what fine dining should be.
Returning now, almost a year to the day, it is with regret that the same cannot be said of this recent visit. While the venue's aesthetics remain as sophisticated as ever, the overall experience has faltered significantly in several critical areas, casting doubt on whether La Petite Langoustine can retain its former acclaim.
Atmosphere What was once a tranquil, refined environment now suffers from an unfortunate misstep in its attempt to enhance the dining atmosphere. The music, noticeably amplified to intrusive levels, undermined the ability to engage in conversation—a fundamental expectation for any dining experience. While ambiance can and should elevate an evening, the current approach detracts from, rather than complements, the culinary journey.
Service Service, an element that distinguished La Petite Langoustine in the past, has deteriorated to a degree that is nothing short of perplexing. A dinner for three spanning 2 hours and 30 minutes from antipasto to dessert reflects a lapse in operational efficiency and attentiveness. Lengthy waits between courses—combined with minimal communication from the staff to manage expectations—left the experience feeling disjointed and, at times, frustrating.
Cuisine The food, while visually presented with the same meticulous artistry, did not evoke the same level of sensory delight that once defined the restaurant. The freshness of the fish, a cornerstone of La Petite Langoustine’s reputation, raised questions—not necessarily for its lack of quality but for the impact of prolonged delays, which dulled the palate and compromised the overall enjoyment of the meal. It must be noted that this perception may stem from the extended timeline of service rather than any intrinsic flaw in the ingredients themselves.
Conclusion It is disheartening to witness such a stark departure from the excellence that once defined La Petite Langoustine. While the potential for greatness remains evident, the current execution falls short of the standards expected of a restaurant of its stature. Whether due to managerial oversight, operational inefficiencies, or an ill-conceived recalibration of its ambiance, the experience has undeniably diminished.
A return to form is possible, but it will require decisive action to address these lapses. Until then, it is with measured disappointment that this reviewer cannot extend the same unqualified recommendation that was given one year ago.

Read moreA beautiful elegant restaurant with good food, but where you know from the very beginning that guests are classified visually according to some arbitrary social categories that only the managers of the restaurant know. We were properly dressed for the evening, so please don’t misunderstand. We felt treated like second hand customers even though we came with a reservation from the most important hotel in town. The local celebrities or people who probably frequent this restaurant more often were overwhelmed warm received and totally favored but new customers who do not have a reputation here in town are seen as totally unimportant and insignificant. I can tell one thing: nowhere in Italy so far where have I been (and I’ve been in so many places) have I had this feeling of being treated somehow from top to bottom. This treatment, which was repeatedly seen by us the whole evening, altered my dinner in this restaurant. I found totally disrespectful for a restaurant in a good position in Rimini to treat its customers who come as tourists in such a bad way. We've been to two other restaurants so far here in town where we've felt extraordinarily and been treated like royalty. My warning for new customers is: if you aren’t very famous in Rimini, better avoid...
Read moreThe restaurant itself is refined, stylish, and serves good food, but the atmosphere for us as guests felt far from welcoming. From the start, it was obvious that certain customers were given a highly preferential treatment, while others—like us—were handled with little care. I had personally made the reservation, I speak Italian, and we were dressed appropriately, so this was not a case of being “just tourists.” Still, the difference in attention was striking.
A particularly disappointing moment was when we requested a very minor adjustment to one of the dishes. The answer was a dry refusal—no explanation, no alternative, simply “no.” This kind of attitude is something I have never come across elsewhere in Italy, where hospitality usually sets the standard. It created a sense of being looked down upon, which overshadowed the evening. If you are not a regular or somebody locally well-known, you should be aware that you may not feel valued in...
