Looks like the rating is set for a hotel not a pizzeria…
The place itself is small and cozy—reminded me of those little bars you peek into while walking by, but don’t usually go in. The pizzas and salad were actually good.
I really enjoyed my Messina beer - it reminded me a bit of the American beer called Blue Moon.
Service wise…I had mixed feelings. They charged us 2euro/person for service (and next to it says ‘not’ a tip). This is uncommon unless you’re at one of those tourist trap places at the center of a super touristy plaza. But then again, we were near the vatican. The neighborhood is quite dirty (see video).
Our waitress was nice, but the man (owner) didn’t seem very interested in helping us or foreigners. I tried to get his attention for a check- he ignored me, the waitress asked him to help grab us our tiramisu while she tended to 5 other tables - he dismissed her, she asked him to help create a check - he made a face of annoyance that he had to deal with us at all. She gave us a free pie which I took it as “sorry for the service - I had no help” hahaha.
So, food and our server? Big thumbs up. Service vibe from the owner? Not...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant , and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The customer service was abysmal. The staff were not only impolite but also exhibited a blatant lack of professionalism. Their attitude towards tourists, including myself, was shockingly rude and dismissive.
From the moment we walked in, we were met with unfriendly faces and unwelcoming gestures. Our server seemed irritated by our presence and was unresponsive to our requests. It felt as if we were an inconvenience. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially in a city known for its hospitality. I hope the management takes serious steps to improve their staff's attitudes and customer service skills.
I would not recommend Anastasio to anyone, especially tourists looking for a pleasant...
Read moreSkip this one. Food was mediocre at best. Pretty sure they used bacon instead of "cured pork cheek," which resulted in a very salty pasta dish. You could literally see them dumping dried pasta out of a supermarket package in the kitchen. Focaccia was not like any kind of focaccia I've had, it was thin and dry like a crispy flatbread. Mozzarella was cold and kind of flavorless. There were maybe a couple drops of olive oil. They charged an automatic service fee per person, though the server, while polite, barely spoke, and the service was otherwise average. For some reason we were given two slices of unappetizing pie with the bill that we didn't order. Old American pop music playing over the speakers. Review would have been higher if it didn't feel so...
