One of my most cherished Mexican restaurants in Italy.
I sincerely hope that many self-proclaimed Mexican restaurant owners in Italy would venture to experience the authentic flavors of Mexican cuisine rather than their abysmal interpretations of TexMex.
Having visited over eight establishments labeled as “Mexican restaurants” across Italy, I have consistently encountered subpar food and attempts to market it as authentic Mexican cuisine, all of which have fallen short of the mark.
In contrast, this establishment stands as a testament to the true essence of Mexican culture and food.
The horchata was exceptionally good, complemented by the carne asada tacos and quesadillas.
I am content with the current offerings but wished that they would also have burritos on their menu.

Read moreWOW! El Jalapena is FANTASTIC! I found this place, near my hotel, on Google Maps. It was about a 15 minute walk and very well worth it. It is a small place, very clean, family owned and operated, and they are extremely friendly and helpful. The menu is super easy with great tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, nachos, etc.
I had a bunch of Al Pastor Tacos that were fabulous, with the marinated pork, onions, cilantro and pineapple. Make sure and get the green and the red salsa! These tacos were about the best I’ve had and I’ve had them all over.
I also had the Tostada Ceviche which was big and incredible good. Lots of white fish marinated in the citrus juice, onions, tomato’s, cilantro and lots of avocado.

We chose this place, not thinking twice, just wanted some Mexican food after a long day, (taking a chance in a foreign country) and were much more than just pleasantly surprised.
