Ristorante Africano Etiope Enqutatash — Restaurant in Rome

This was one of our favorite dinners in all of Italy and some of the best Ethiopian food we've had ever! The host, Giovanni, was incredibly friendly, kind and made us feel comfortable and made sure we had our food prepared just as we like it as we ordered the kitfo, which is a Berbere spiced beef dish traditionally prepared raw. Many people like it slightly cooked but he confirmed to make sure we had it prepared to our likings (YOU MUST HAVE IT RAW-it is so addicting!) The meat was perfectly seasoned and all the veggies were flavorful and comforting. the injera was also tasty. The prices are very fair and the service was quick. His wife was the cook, and it was just nice to be at a cozy family run place where it feels like friends are cooking you dinner :) You must go- I will certainly return when I go back to Rome and will try the chicken and egg dish as it looks INCREDIBLE! Really enjoyed the food despite its particular appearance, but that's maybe because I haven't tried Ethiopian cuisine before, so my opinion on it might not be the best. There are both spicy and non spicy dishes and if you happen to be vegetarian, you'd like to know there are many vegetables among them. The restaurant is a bit cramped, so you'd better make a reservation else you won't even find a single seat. The service was fairly good, I've tried the buffet service which includes an appetizer and a mix of what's listed on the menu on an all-you-can-eat formula, drinks are not included. Come in famiglia! Io, il mio compagno e altri due amici abbiamo voluto provare questo ristorante facendo una rapida ricerca dei più vicini all'abitazione, ma oltre ad essere vicino è risultato essere anche apprezzatissimo da tutti e quattro. Siamo stati accolti con estrema simpatia e gentilezza, il padrone di casa ci ha spiegato le varie pietanze e ci ha accompagnato nella scelta ponendosi subito a disposizione per qualunque dubbio e curiosità, quindi in definitiva è stato un po' un "tour da seduti", alla fine ci siamo sentiti in un ambiente piacevolmente familiare, perché oltre ai piatti ottimi, che a mio parere sono ben proporzionati in fatto di qualità/prezzo, siamo anche entrati un po' nell'atmosfera di condivisione e calore tipica dell'Africa. Mangiare con le mani ha il suo perché, il significato e l'importanza di tale gesto, essendo italiani, potremmo non capirlo, ma basti pensare a come si mangia il pesce o la pizza da noi e subito si capisce che certe cose non possono essere che mangiate in quel modo e basta per assaporarle fino in fondo e con spirito allegro e innocente, dove il rapporto con il cibo viene riscoperto con spontaneità, come quando si è piccoli e mangiare è pura gioia. Buona la birra africana, ma il top sono i dolci, mai assaggiati di così buoni! Poi buono tutto, carne, cous-cous e verdure, ma i dolci ci hanno stra-conquistato!!
