The dish I had, cacio e Pepe was amazing, if it weren’t for the food I’d probably give it one star based off MY personal experience. For me the service was horrible. The worst that I’ve had in Italy. I personally think it’s because i was by myself but also, the only black guy in the restaurant.
It was really my waiter, on my check it said Alex but idk if that’s who brought me my check. Initially things started good but went south really quick. Other server checked in on me while then my server out of no where started to avoid eye contact or anything. He offered other tables dessert and spoke with them multiple times but never checked in with me. I asked another check and it took them 25 minutes to bring me my check and within that time i was really hoping to get desert because i kept seeing everyone else get offered. I was really respectful to the waiter, I complimented the second wine i asked for that he brought me, I complimented the food, but after that, there was 40 minutes, nearly an entire soccer match was going to half time and he hadn’t said a word to me. Empty glass of wine as well. I was attempting to get his attention twice and completely avoided me. I HATE making things about race but i feel this guy may have felt i didn’t have money. I’m a successful black person living in America making 6 figures and idk, obviously there’s not too many like me that come there because I was the only brown person in there… well dressed, it’s not like i went in there looking like a bum.
I got really frustrated when it took them forever to give me the bill after the third time i asked for it and the guy that brought the check wasn’t even my waiter and it was really awkward.
Again, food was great. Service from one person, not so great to me although others seemed to be treated well. I just think it was my situation either me being alone or black which is why I was treated the way i was...

On our last night I desperately needed a pharmacy for my blisters. As I was in the pharmacy, my husband found this restaurant on Google maps and we stumbled in.
We were greeted by a friendly server and were given the option of sitting inside or outside. We opted for inside and were sorted next to the window for the kitchen.
The place has a very cool vibe and there was a colour changing light on the table which was fun.
The menu is accessed via QR code. Next to that there was the details to connect to the wifi!! So important to offer wifi if you’re asking your customers to use the internet to view your menu.
We ordered the chickpea flan with pecorino cheese fondue. If you order this you will want to order some focaccia on the side. This was amazing!! For mains my husband ordered a Carbonara which had a Smokey flavour and he loved it, said it’s the best he’s had. I had the cacio e Pepe which was amazing! We also had the angels and demons pizza to share and just wow! The base was so thin and crispy, the pizza had a bit of spice but this was balanced out so well! Even though we were full to the brim we ordered dessert. Which was also amazing.
Honestly we just kept ordering more and more because the food was so good! This is a sign of a good restaurant!!
Just after we were seated there was a lady at a table who explained to the server she had a number of allergies and was unsure what she could order. The waiter asked for her list of allergies and gave her a list of options. At the end she wanted something that wasn’t on the menu and they made it for her!!!
Service was great and pricing was very reasonable. I definitely recommend...
Read moreThis is the second time my husband and I dined at Tacito in our 8 days in Rome, and we strongly recommend it! I don't often write reviews but when I do it is credit where credit is due.
In terms of the atmosphere, it is warm and vibrant. It is abuzz with Roman Prati neighbourhood locals with the occasional tourist tables (like ours) thrown in for good measure. Excellent service, with friendly casual vibes.
As for the food - fresh, simple and great quality ingredients are evident here as well as consistency. The first time we dined we had the carbonara, the angel & devil pizza and salad. The second time, we had the beef fillet steak, wedges, Tacito pizza and maccaroni with induja and fior de latte pasta. The pizza, absolute perfection! From the crust, to the sauce and simple but flavourful toppings. The steak - as Australians, we are very particular about our steak - it was delicious, very juicy and tender and cooked proper rare as requested. The pasta and sauces were excellent.
Well done to the Tacito team...we have three more days in Rome and I expect we...
