Ristorante Trabocco Vento di Scirocco San Vito Chietino — Restaurant in San Vito Chietino

Cute and picturesque trabocco restaurant located on the pier of San Vito Chietino. Somewhat smaller than the others that I have visited, this one is definitely the easiest to reach - I have been to other 'trabocchi' on the coast and they can be difficult to find. The food was very good and fresh, the staff was attentive and helpful. The menu is always pre set and this time it consisted of 4 different courses: a selection of cold and warm starters, spaghetti allo scoglio and tuna served with rucola and balsamic vinegar. The protions are considerably smaller than the other trabocco restaurants I have tried, but it was definitely enough food and I did not leave hungry. The wine was outstanding. However, given that the price is the same as the others trabocco restaurants I have been to, I feel like the quantity-price ratio was not the best. Hence the 4 stars. Amazing location for lunch! We pre-booked for the 'aperi-fish' lunch and were very happy with the quality of the food- given their cramped operational ability on the trabocco. The table was right on the edge of the platform so we had fantastic views over the sea and straight down into the water. We were there just as the weather was changing to thundery showers, and a very strong wind came up half way through our meal (protective plastic windows can be rolled down to shelter you from the weather). However this just added a bit of fun and excitement to the experience as we finished our meal to the distant rumbles of thunder, incredible black clouds heading in our direction (we got out before the heavy rains started), and huge waves crashing onto the beach and making the trabocco platform shudder. There are other trabocci along the coast that offer very high levels of dining but this one is very good if you are enjoying the beach at San Vito. Well...

My husband and I have seen these interesting little shacks along sea side in San Vito and we couldn't understand their purpose. Then one day we decided to get into it. We didn't know what to expect. Probably we were the first and only people who came without reservation, so the owner of this place found us a table. She didn't give us a menu. But somehow servants began to bring us the food. There were a lot of small portions of different divine seafood- about 6 or 7 plates for each of us. The food was amazing! At the end of the lunch we understood that it was a standard lunch with a fixed price (that's why we didn't get a menu). We were so satisfied with the food and the service that we came to this place again next afternoon. And again the food was amazing and different. We talked to the owner of this Trabocco.
