Mato Kitchen Bar — Restaurant in San Vito di Cadore

This place was a pleasant surprise. We were staying off the main town of Cortina as there was no affordable accommodations left and were forced to stay 20mins away. This restaurant was one that we would pass by and we decided to give it a go.

The place was quite pack around 815pm but the staff was more attentive than what we had experienced in the entire of Dolomites and Italy thus far. What’s even more impressive is they were some young good looking lads that spoke English well. Hardworking as well to be working until 11pm where the restaurant closes and who knows what time it will be after they finish their closing chores.

Food was well priced and hit the right spot. Definitely not the best in Dolomites but very good. I particularly enjoyed the risotto. Burger was average as the patty was pretty dry. The meatball were also undercooked inside and pretty tough on the outside. But overall...

This place is a spectacular restaurant with great food and a vast variety of drinks. We’ve eaten here many times and none of the visits ever disappointed. The burgers, which are the main attraction, are really delicious, the meat is really good. There is quite a lot of burgers to choose from, all of them having their own special contents. However, aside from the burgers, there are many more meals to get; the pasta here is absolutely magnificent, very creamy and just a perfect alternative to the hamburgers. Also, there are the jacked potatoes, which also have different toppings to choose from. We’ve tried the jalapeño and cheese, salmon & avocado and also the hummus and dried tomatoes combo, which was our personal favourite. The staff is really friendly and lively, there is no delay with cooking and serving, so it was just a great place to have lunch...

The worst experience ever. We placed a food order, and the first thing they brought us were the potatoes, absolutely awful. They were probably boiled about seven days ago, fried three days ago, and reheated today just for us. When we told them we had no confidence that the rest of the food would be any better and decided to cancel our order, they told us to vacate the table because they needed it. This happened despite the fact that we had already ordered and paid for our beers, which we had already started drinking but didn’t even get the chance to finish. I urge the owner of this restaurant to educate their staff, especially the waitress from today. Such behavior could have serious consequences for the restaurant.
