Osteria del Mar Griglieria — Restaurant in Santu Diadòru/San Teodoro

I don’t usually leave negative reviews , I also own a restaurant, and I only do so if I was treated poorly, which has happened very rarely. However, at this restaurant, the owner treated me with clear discrimination from the moment I arrived.

I don’t speak Italian, and I spoke in English when I got there. I was alone, and she looked me up and down, don’t look in my face and Despite there being several empty tables, she placed me at a table practically outside the restaurant, right in front of a menu board , meaning everyone walking in stopped right next to my table. I even overheard her telling the waiter, “Put her at the table by the door.” Again, this was with plenty of small empty tables available.

The waiter, however, was very polite and kind throughout. I gently asked him if it was possible to change tables, and he said he would check with her. Almost immediately, she said no. I then asked if I could at least be seated inside and she looked him with a bad face..

I felt disrespected. I must emphasize that the waiter’s service was cordial , but the owner’s discriminatory behavior was unacceptable. As a fellow restaurant owner, I believe no one should ever be treated in such a way. This is why I felt compelled to leave...

Staff are so accommodating! Be aware - the opening times state 6pm but this is an Italian-way soft opening where the staff are still setting up and having their family dinner, it is actually 6:30pm, however they will still provide you a table and drinks while you wait which is sweet.

The service can be a little chaotic with large groups and they handled ours well

I have been here last yr and loved their warm octopus potato salad but this year the "warm"potato salad was cold! And on another occasion their boiled potatoes were stone cold! Not too sure what happened with the quality of the food but it was way better last year. Example: My friends and I loved their roasted potatoes last yr as they were sooo soft and had the perfect crust with the right amount of fat and salted perfectly. However this year the roasted cubed potatoes were obviously frozen and from a bag then fried/baked. They were NOT the same. Have noticed a quality change there.

The steaks were cooked to perfect and the lamb was so good, as well as the breaded chicken breast.

Horrible don’t bother

We called ahead and had a reservation. We ended up waiting an hour for a table - the head waiter kept saying 5 mins. During this time we saw multiple instances of waiters getting orders wrong and taking food back - should honestly have left at this point.

Finally got seated an hour after the reservation time & chasing multiple times. Ordered a starter to share with 2 mains & a side to share. Waiter brought the starter and 1 main with 1 side. Despite saying starter was to share. Plus the food was average at best.

By the time the 2nd main arrived, the side was cold, my friend had finished her meal. Complained to our waiter who was very rude,unapologetic & patronising.

Manager came and said she will leave the food on the table as it has been ordered and “chef” won’t be happy. Ended up just paying and left. Didn’t bother to eat the 2nd main, the mood was ruined. (We we’re still charged though)

TLDR: Sardinia is beautiful. San Teodoro has some good restaurants. Avoid this place , the negative reviews...
