Ristorante Lucifero — Restaurant in Sapri

I recently dined at Lucifero, a restaurant that offers traditional cuisine from the Cilento coast, with my family. Conveniently located in the heart of Sapri, the restaurant seemed easy to find on paper. However, following Google Maps led us to the wrong entrance, the most noticeable one at that, which created some confusion!

The décor here doesn't quite match my idea of a cozy atmosphere. The lighting feels cold, and the overall setup is rather plain, making it less than ideal for capturing those perfect Instagram snapshots. Additionally, the bathroom could use some improvement such as the hand soap that was supplied by a low-quality dispenser.

On the bright side, the staff at Lucifero is warm and welcoming, like a group of friends you haven't met yet. From the moment you step inside, they greet you with friendly smiles that seem to say, “Get ready for an amazing meal!” They are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, ready to answer any questions you might have. If you're looking for a recommendation, they’ll surely steer you in the right direction. However, the maître d’ was the only one taking orders and handling bills. This left her overwhelmed with other customers, making us wait over 30 minutes for our check—definitely a test of our patience! Additionally, the wine list was somewhat outdated compared to what was actually available in the fridge, which was a bit disappointing as I had to rethink my drink choice.

Now, let’s talk about the food! I kicked things off with a tuna steak (tagliata di tonno) that was slightly overcooked and topped with a balsamic glaze, which I hadn’t noticed on the menu. Thankfully, the meal ended on a high note with a scrumptious lemon-curd cake that really salvaged my experience. Meanwhile, the rest of the group shared a fritto misto that they found "good," while my child had the "pennette alla panna," which was rather ordinary.

To wrap it all up, Lucifero didn’t quite hit the mark in delivering a true Cilento experience. Given the incredible range of fresh ingredients available in that region of Italy, I had anticipated more creativity in their dishes. For instance, why include salmon in an appetizer? Plus, the inefficiency of the maître d’ significantly impacted my...

My partner and I arrived late in the lunch service, but were greeted warmly and shown immediately to a table. We speak no Italian, but the head waiter spoke English with us and made recommendations based on what we wanted to eat. We sat indoors... the restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was very friendly. Service was prompt and efficient. The food was superb. We had two different seafood pasta dishes, followed by mixed grilled seafood and fresh tuna with pistachio crust. All were excellent... Pasta deliciously al denté, tuna pink and succulent and the grilled seafood (which, if I have it correct, included sea bass, prawns, langoustine and squid) was cooked perfectly and served with chunks of juicy lemon. Portions were generous, and we got a basket of fresh crusty white bread - more than we could eat but perfect for mopping up those delicious juices and olive oil. I also asked for a mixed salad starter, which was fresh, crunchy and well- seasoned. Siamo stati in questo ristorante pizzeria nel bellissimo paese di Sapri dove la freschezza dei piatti si fa sentire in maniera molto importante . Il ristorante si trova nelle vie interne ma a 50 metri dal lungo mare , quindi dopo cena potrete farvi e godere sia il panorama che la bellezza del lungo mare in piena estate .

L’ambiente è molto accogliente , uno stile casareccio molto ampio anche per cene con tavoli molto numerosi . Mi è piaciuto molto questo stile classico con i colori che si accompagnano alla perfezione .

Per quanto riguarda il menù non mi sono fatto mancare niente .

le porzioni sono abbondanti e di certo non ti alzi con la fame da tavola .

Sono dotati di pesce fresco (non una cosa scontata ) e consiglio vivamente di testare il menù dall’ antipasto al secondo (non siamo riusciti a prendere dolci quindi non posso permettermi di valutarli )

Gli antipasti che abbiamo provato erano davvero buoni e abbondanti , infatti consiglio vivamente la pepata di cozze e soprattutto l’antipasto misto , dove potrai degustare un mix completo della casa di pesce ben curato e condito in maniera egregia .

per quanto riguarda i primi ho avuto il piacere di degustare il risotto alla pescatora che consiglio vivamente , si sente il sapore di MARE molto importante sia nel riso che nel pesce e anche gli scialatielli erano una grandissima bontà divina .

Come secondo ho avuto il piacere di assaggiare una frittura di pesce , fatta benissimo , asciutta dall’olio di cottura (una cosa non sempre scontata )che consiglio vivamente .

CELIACI : Sono dotati di bollino AIC laddove ne sono soci e se sei celiaco questo ristorante non vi farà sentire “diversi” perché hanno un menù preciso e dettagliato sia nel pesce ma soprattutto nella pizza che l’impasto non è quello pronto ma bensì lo fanno loro ed è anche fatto molto bene (come detto prima , non c’è alcuna differenza e sul menù troverete una ricca scelta ) .

per quanto riguarda il servizio , all’inizio abbiamo atteso un attimo per l’ ordinazione ma é stata una cosa più che normale vista la quantità di persone a cena non indifferente , ma per il servizio a tavola , la cucina volava e infatti non ho trovato alcun difetto da parte del servizio , anzi tanta professionalità .

Vorrei far notare una cosa che reputo molto importante ; ho avuto il piacere di scambiare anche due parole con il titolare del ristorante e sono rimasto contento di questa cosa ed ho ammirato la tanta professionalità e passione del proprio lavoro ma soprattutto la cultura del cibo e dei vini che aveva , visto che presenta anche una carta di vini molto interessante .

Per quanto riguarda il conto , devo dire che senza vino e dolce abbiamo speso una cifra più che spettacolare , si leggerete bene SPETTACOLARE , vista la qualità dei piatti .

Sicuramente ci ritornerei a mangiare del buon pesce come ho mangiato quella...
