La Specola Restaurant — Restaurant in Sapri

This restaurant has a brightly lit, spacious indoor room - several tables were occupied by Italian families - and a long warmly lit outdoor courtyard decorated with suspended paper parasols. The food was fine. We had two pasta dishes, which were nice - my Paccieri was seriously chewy, which I didn't mind - followed by deep fried battered calamari and prawns (fried fish of the day) and grilled squid. The fried fish was fresh. The squid was rubbery and dry - it was a good jaw workout. We had two mixed salads on the side, which were not great compared to other salads I've had in Sapri. Locale situato in una traversa all'interno di Sapri niente vista panoramica e/o mare , ambiente pulito e curato, personale ridotto e poco disponibile, si vede che devono ancora imparare i modi di accoglienza, locale vuoto eravamo i soli clienti in quel momento eppure sono riusciti a farci aspettare per prendere la prenotazione, ordinato tonno alla brace per tre e quando è arrivato aveva un bel aspetto cotto bene e tenero ma la sorpresa è arrivata quando lo abbiamo iniziato a mangiare , era SALATISSIMO !!! abbiamo richiamato la cameriera che con lentezza e tracotanza si è avvicinata, al quale abbiamo chiesto di domandare al cuoco il perché avesse salato cosi tanto le nostre fette di tonno e dopo aver aspettato invano una risposta abbiamo dovuto richiamare ancora l'attenzione della cameriera chiedendogli perché non si degnava di darci una risposta, a quel punto interveniva la titolare che a distanza ci liquidava con la risposta " è la sapidità del tonno !! non abbiamo aggiunto sale " mentre le fette ormai erano diventate fredde, non potendo proseguire a magiare, chiamavamo la titolare al tavolo alla quale abbiamo ripetuto tutti e tre che non era proprio possibile mangiare il tonno in quanto salatissimo e di provare ad assaggiarlo lei, ma senza degnarsi di assaggiarlo per accertarsi, ripeteva come un mantra le stesse parole....infastiditi di tanta arroganza e poca sensibilità nei confronti dei clienti ci siamo alzati e recati alla cassa, la quale proprietaria ha preteso di esigere il conto anche senza che avessimo pranzato, abbiamo pagato e siamo usciti con la pancia vuota e anche il portafoglio più leggero , ma con il disgusto per essere incappati nel posto sbagliato !! auguri a chi vorrà provare...

Wanted a nice local catch seafood dinner. Was very pricey. As you can see I did get a large portion of sword fish but that was it on the plate. Had to buy a salad separately with was just greens thrown on a plate. No dressing or varience of salad. Every thing was extra. If the meal was very tasty, fine but it was NOT. Very bland. So far the worst meal we have had on our travels. Would not recommend and I love seafood. Best meal I have had so far I'm our travels, was in Messina, Carducci Restaurant. Amazing flavours...
