Orribile, Il Peggio!!! Welcome to the WORST restaurant bar in Sperlonga, Gaeta, Lazio, and all of Southern Italy!! Don't believe the Travel & Leisure article, because this place is just horrific!

I wish I could give this ridiculous waste of a space in an otherwise pretty square in Sperlonga -5 stars! The only waitress there is the rudest, most obnoxious, most unskilled, least friendly, least customer-oriented person in all of Italy!!! Why has she not been fired yet!?!?! Likely because the owner doesn't care either!

First, she told us the kitchen was closed, so they had only cold food options like a caprese salad, which was fine. Then, she neglected to serve us for 20 minutes while serving other tables who had arrived after us, then when I walked inside to order, she gave me a snotty answer and told me to sit down. Then, she said that we couldn't even order a caprese salad, so we left.

And worse still, she mocked us when we left. What an unbelievable lack of professionalism and service at this seriously terrible place! Skip this place and skip...

We came here twice, once for coffee and once for dinner. The coffee was good and we enjoyed it with a super tasty fruit salad. For dinner we had great cocktails and delicious pasta with fresh tomatoes. The service was super friendly, spoke English and happy to help us learn more Italian too. The waiter was also happy to explain dishes and adapt anything-although as it happened nothing needed adapting. This is a great place to sit and people watch and enjoy the old square. Prices are slightly higher than in the modern part of town but well worthwhile. €3 for a cappuccino, €7 for a fruit salad, around €10 for a cocktail and €15 for meat-free pasta dishes. Locale con una posizione esclusiva di cui non merita assolutamente i vantaggi. Infatti è sempre affollato ma l'atteggiamento di gestori e del personale di servizio è alquanto indisponente. Un anno fa ci siamo seduti in 4 ad un tavolo intorno alle 14 ma alla fine dopo una attesa inutile ci siamo alzati senza consumare. Un cameriere stressato che inizialmente ci aveva indicato il nostro tavolo e portato i menù, ad ogni nostra rischiesta si irrigidiva e dichiarava indisponiibilitá via via di tutto giustificandosi, anche scocciato, con l'assenza del cuoco. Per cui non si poteva avere neanche un piatto di affettati o una piadina. In questa situazione surreale ci siamo chiesti perché ci avessero fatto sedere al tavolo. Ci siamo resi conto che anche altri tavoli erano nella stessa condizione, fino al punto che il cameriere contro ogni regola base per una attività commerciale, ci ha letteralmente consigliato di andare in altro ristorante, quasi non fossimo graditi. e quindi alquanto basiti siamo andati via. Ieri abbiamo deciso di ritentare con la colazione, nonostante i prezzi dei cornetti normalissimi fossero abbondantemente sopra la media. Alla fine ho mandato mio figlio di 11 anni a pagare alla cassa come facciamo solitamente per iniziare a responsabilizzarlo. Per poi scoprire che era stato incalzato e deriso dai gestori alla cassa che ridacchiando gli dicevano di sbrigarsi e di essere 'poco pratico'. Tutto questo, scoperto solo a fine giornata in quanto mio figlio si è vergognato di dircelo subito. Altrimenti gli avrei detto volentieri che erano solo loro a doversi vergognare. Forse non avrei lasciato alcuna recensione ma il fatto di aver demoralizzato un bambino senza motivo, lo trovo squallido e mi ha spinto a scrivere anche della precedente esperienza. Posto da evitare.
