I didn't plan to leave a review on Google or anywhere else and sent this email to the restaurant in the hope that it would be seen by Giuseppe Costa. But as it's been met with total silence here it is.
Please forward this email to Giuseppe because Isabelle, my wife, and I do not believe that he can know about the issues we faced when we visited Salotto for lunch at the end of June 2025.
We know Sicily and Palermo well. This was our 36th visit. We have eaten all over Sicily at many of its most famous and other less well-known but still very good restaurants. From La Madia and Duomo to Don Camillo in Ragusa to Da Vittorio and an unknown but exceptional pizzeria in Menfi. And many more The service at Salotto was the worst that we have ever experienced on the island.
We were mainly served by a young man who was extremely arrogant and rude. He behaved as if he was doing us a favour by serving us at all. He then spent at least 15 minutes chatting to a young couple at an adjacent table with his back to us and didn't check the other tables once. No person with an attitude like this should be working in a restaurant. The young woman was fractionally better, but only just. She too was arrogant. Both sent the strong message that we were not welcome. Incidentally, this attitude was not limited to us. We saw other guests being treated similarly. But not the young couple at the adjacent table.
Their attitude spoiled the experience to such an extent that we didn't enjoy the food. It was okay, every dish underseasoned and not great and we are happy to comment if you are interested. We are serious foodies, and cooks, and particularly enjoy Italian food.
We would like to know that this email reaches Giuseppe because we genuinely do not believe that he can know about these...
Read moreWe booked a table on Wednesday the12th for the 14th of June for my father’s birthday, when arrived the bouncer couldn’t find the reservation, they sent us to talk to the manager, she checked the list and couldn’t find either this is when things got interesting, the chef Giuseppe Costa (Michelin star) came to us by saying we have no reservations. At this point we were expecting to be accommodated somewhere however we been literally sent off. The Chef justified that he had a private event and we were not appropriate for such event. I have been living in London for 20 years, Been eating at top restaurants and even at fast food however I have never experienced such a rude, discriminatory attitude for a so called “Chef”. I can only advise you one thing Mr Costa, humble down and start respecting people and take responsibility of your actions. Very very...
