We, a group of four decided to finish off our trip to Tropea before moving on to Sorrento at this restaurant. From outside it looked great? The vine leafs and the Vespa, a decent sized menu with some local inspired dishes.
We were greeted nicely by the host, sat promptly. Our Waitress was a women with bleached hair who we thought very rudely threw the menus on the side of the table then walked off. Not much of a greeting.
My Italian is some what moderate, I will always try my best to speak the language when abroad out of respect. How ever we managed to order food and drinks. 1 local tropea salad. A pizza with potatoes on. 1 carbonara and another with nduja sausage.
How ever, when the first dish arrived the lady brought out a pizza with pineapple and ham on, nothing close to what we’d ordered. Waitress No where to be seen we asked another staff member to change it, after that we received the pizza actually ordered. Then our carbonaras came, mine being a traditional was correct however the second (with nduja) had been misplaced for the local onion variant. Again we asked, politely Ofcourse because mistakes are okay when dealt with properly. It’s to be noted, the man who was not actually our waiter for the night dealt with us well, apologised. But took 20 minutes and 3 other staff to find the correct pasta none of which was the lady actually looking after us. The food came and it was some what decent, it saved the meal. Had it been as bad as the service I’d have payed for the drinks and walked out.
Although the Icing on the cake, had the service not already been bad enough the original waiter with dyed hair gave us the bill… but the completely wrong bill the table opposite had in fact been waiting 20 minutes for that was €20s more expensive with food clearly not ordered. But again she dropped it on the table and walked off. NOT HER PROBLEM. So I had enough and asked the I presume owner for help, although he gave little of it. The correct bill was given after 2 waiters excluding the useless original one could figure the problem, there was a €10 service charge added to which we asked to be taken off as the service was dreadful. However the women serving us was again no where to be seen so we were told by another waiter who to be fair wasn’t in charge of our section it wasn’t his fault and he won’t be to blame. This place runs on the idea tourists will eat, not like it and never come back. Service makes a difference to a good meal, I’ve had many many meals with in Italy and that’s up there with a minority of bad ones which were all complete culinary car crashes. Tropea was great, beautiful place with great places to eat and drink. Just not this one. I can’t help shift the stale taste it’s left on such a beautiful town or maybe perhaps that’s just bread...

I rarely leave reviews, but That’s Amore truly deserves the highest praise. From the moment we stepped in, the warmth of the service made us feel like more than just customers—it felt like being welcomed into someone’s home.
The staff here are exceptional: attentive without being intrusive, genuinely passionate about the food, and always smiling. You can feel the love they put into everything they do, and it’s contagious.
Now the food… wow. Every dish we tried was a hit. Fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and that unmistakable sense of Italian soul in every bite. It’s not just good—it’s the kind of food that makes you close your eyes and savor. You can tell it’s made with care and pride, not just cooked to order.
The ambiance is cozy and full of charm, striking a perfect balance between relaxed and special. Whether you’re here for a romantic dinner, a quiet meal after a long day, or just to relax with a refreshing drink That’s Amore is the kind of place that sticks with you.
To the team: grazie mille. You’ve created something truly amazing during our stay...
Read more3 tables that arrived after us were having dinner before. We waited for an hour our food then one of two plates arrived (lasagna). It was reheated lasagna, not hot and we complained about the timing. The host told me very angry, don’t compare with the other tables they didn’t asked pasta (most of them had pasta, one of them had the exact same pasta I asked, spaghetti carbonara). Not a way to treat a costumer (i was being very nice). She came back couple of minutes later (in the same mood) and told me if it was ok to change type of pasta because they were out of spaghetti.More than 60 minutes after we sat. When the host took away our dishes the fork fell of her hands to my boyfriends white shirt. None was done by her. They charged the whole count even she messed his shirt, served cold lasagna, different pasta than ordered and had us waiting 60 minutes. Please highlight we were asking very simple Common dishes. Lasagna and spaghetti carbonara. Not pleasant at all. Please note the person we are complaining about is not a waitress (one of the waiter actually was super nice) its the main host of...
