My experience of this cosy family restaurant serving typical local cuisine totally lived up to my expectations based on the reviews I had read. Prices are so affordable for such tasty dishes and local wine, I mean where would you get a very decent glass of wine for €1 with your meal! It's cheaper than fruit juice! Andrea the owners' very affable son speaks English and patiently explained the dishes displayed on the board. The wild boar with blueberries & polenta and the tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms are fabulous. The frico is interesting to try but if you are on a low salt diet, it's on the salty side due to the heavy cheese content but the polenta it's served with is not salty, so provides balance. Other diners seemed mainly locals and it was busy even on a Tuesday evening, so do book ahead. It's really worth walking the 18 minutes away from the historical centre to eat here. I can't wait to return to Udine just to eat here again!

Had an absolutely incredible experience at the Osteria. Visited for dinner with a group of 33, the staff were incredibly welcoming, flexible with the various demands of a large number and spoke perfect English. We had arranged a family style meal and I'd asked the proprietor to select the dishes, stating that we'd love to try some local specialties. For an incredibly reasonable price we ate multiple varieties of local pasta dishes, salami in vinegar, wild boar and frico (potato and cheese dish) as well as a selection of desserts and excellent local wine. The food was all amazing, every single member of the group was delighted by the high quality and wide variety of food. We visited a few months ago (I'm late in writing this) and this meal remains a highlight of the entire trip, the warm, charming, inviting nature of the restaurant, combined with the fantastic service and delicious food made for an absolutely amazing experience.

This isn't a tourist-y restaurant. The prices are very good and the portion sizes are big. Heads up: the menu is all in Italian. It was funny trying to order as we had to use our poor acting skills since we didn't know any Italian. We weren't too sure what we ordered but were very happy everything turned out great! I had rabbit and it was very good! The service was also pretty good. I would definitely recommend this little gem.

The Food was AMAZING! The best Italian Food we ate. They don’t speak much English but they are very kind and try to understand you. I loved the atmosphere, the menu is written on the wall. The glass wine is cheap and delicious! We really enjoyed the restaurant and the food.
