Locanda Dorica — Restaurant in Velletri

We had an incredible evening at Locanda Dorica. By coincidence, we found the place when walking by. But what a great coincidence!

The owner took his time to go through the full menu together with us, explaining all the dishes (the menu was in Italian and neither of us knows the language) and the origin of all ingredients. He gave us some good suggestions that we went along with.

For starters we had a really good burrata (delivered daily from Puglia), and the best carpaccio I have ever had (with fresh truffle - omg). We had two amazing pasta dishes and finishing the evening off with the best tiramisu I have ever tasted (it’s a must!).

LOOK NO FURTHER If it happens to be in Roma and you have the opportunity, you MUST try this lovely gem in Velletri, Castelli Romani. It is around 35 mins drive, and it is absolutely worth it- trust me! We have visited Locanda Dorica on a weekday with a group of 5 friends, we have tried pretty much all menu (oh yes, we are big food lovers), but when you get to speak with Doriano and Francesco, you just can’t do anything else but go for their recommendation. Beautiful décor, great vibes, fantastic service and outstanding food – a truly experience. My mom and I are walking the Via Francigena and came in to town tired and hungry after a day of hiking. We couldn’t find anywhere to eat and were directed to come here. They welcomed us with open arms and gave us a meal we will never forget. The atmosphere was quaint and beautiful and the service was amazing. And best of all the food. Obviously as Americans traveling in Italy we are treated to many wonderful meals but none could compare to our lunch here. Fresh ingredients and amazing flavors left us more than happy.
