OSTERIA DA TONI — Restaurant in Venice

This was the worst restaurant I had visited while I was abroad. The food was terrible and the service was even worse. When we arrived, ten minutes early to our reservation, we were promptly told that our reservations had been canceled and we should leave. This was due to the fact we canceled our reservation and reinstated it because our flgiths were getting us to Venice on time. Fortunately, the head waiter gave us a table, but reluctantly.

Then we get to the problem with the food. The mergherita pizza was the worst in Italy. When you are surrounded by the fresh ingredients that Italy has to offer, sauces and ingredients should be fresh. I had a pizza with mushrooms and ham. To my suprise, the mushrooms were canned! There is a grocery store right next door to the restaurant with fresh mushrooms, yet I was served canned ones! A friend ordered their four-cheese gnocchi. The gnocchi was gummy and the cheese was more similar to an American velveeta with some powdered parmesan.

The waiter was so rude and uncomforting. Originally, my pizza did not come out with the mushrooms and when I asked to have the pizza remade with the mushrooms, the waiter refused because he said I had not ordered it with mushrooms. After insistance, they finally took my pizza and topped it with cold, canned mushrooms.

If you are a local, don't eat here and if you are a tourist don't eat here. This place is not comforting and the food is not good. Would never go back and will...

We have been there twice and for a good reason : If you need a place for a drink or food it is a must go. This place is located away from tourists area and you can eat viewing a little canal. They have Italian music going on the inside at the right volume. Locals are passing by and you can hear happy people talking italian. The food is home made and more than delicious. The staff is very professional and so friendly. Especially the owner who make sure about your comfort. He can speak several languages : Italian, English, French, Spanish, Japanese,... so there is no loss in translation. If you are looking for an italian experience, go there, the atsmosphere is beautiful and immersive. Best meal for best value, totally...

If you're a pasta lover, this is hands down one of the best restaurants you must try! The seafood pasta here is absolutely phenomenal fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Their fish dishes are also top-notch and full of authentic taste.

What really made the experience unforgettable was the warm hospitality. Shimul, the owner, is incredibly kind and welcoming. He has such a great personality friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure guests have a great time. The entire staff was helpful and made us feel right at home.
