Valentino — Restaurant in Venice

Thank you for your detailed reply, but I believe you missed the point of our review. We never complained about the prices — your restaurant is not expensive for us, and we never said it was.

The issue wasn’t about money or waiting time. It was about the attitude of the staff. They behaved in a clearly superior and dismissive way towards us, and even interrupted our meal to ask if we were finished — only five minutes after the food was served.

Yes, we ate the food — that doesn’t mean we enjoyed it. It simply means we were hungry and respectful enough not to waste it.

Also, saying we should have checked the menu outside or made a reservation doesn’t excuse the lack of basic hospitality and warmth, especially toward tourists.

You suggest reading previous reviews — we did. That’s why we were surprised by the actual experience. Unfortunately, it didn’t match the praise.

Waste of money !! After being seated and ordering we had to wait 40 minutes for our glass of wine and the bread basket. Our child (8 years) was very hungry and I asked twice for some bread but no one cared. While we were waiting another italian family arrived. It seemed they knew each other because they got their wine, water, bread immediately. We had to wait. Main course meat was cold (but couldn't complain because no waiter showed up) , couldn't also ask for salt and pepper nor order a second glass of wine for the same reason. Worst pasta nero di seppia ever eaten !! One star only for the nice terrace. I travel the world and spend approx. 150 nights a year in hotels and eat often in restaurants but that was one of the worst experiences.

HOW RUDE ! WE DID HAVE A RESERVATION THROUGH OUR 5 * HOTEL AND WE HAVE NOT AT ALL CRITISED THE PRICES, THAT WAS NOT A TOPIC FOR US !! BUT IT SEEMS YOU CANNOT DEAL WITH...

I am writing this as a restaurant reviewer with over 100 visits to all type of Michelin star restaurants but also as somebody who love basic and good food. This is my personal perspective and you might have a different experience.

Summary: Fantastic fish restaurant on the Lido with friendly staff and good value

Location: little bit off the beaten track. Nice outside area at a quite location on the lido.

Food: All was very good. Had the Poached crab with raw artichokes, the grilled squid and a tiramisu. All well aligned. Seemed to be fresh. No fuzz. Quest good quality.

Service: very welcoming. Professional. Friendly.

Extras: one of the best Venetian restaurants. No tourist trap. Just authentic...
