Ristorante Al Buco — Restaurant in Vico Equense

Except the nice welcome when we entered and “ciao” on our way out, nothing was very nice… The service was below standard and the first time on our visit to Italy we had the feeling of not beeing very welcomed. The food was very basic and also below standard. Instead of a mixed salad we got a plain green salad. The mixed vegetables were cold, a very small portion and more like salads thrown on the grill. Even the local wine was far below the level we had in other restaurants… Also the pizzas for take away were burnt on one side and not quite tasteful… Sad to say, but better chose another restaurant when visiting...

Mixed opinions on Al Buco. Ordered the caprese salad to start which was exceptional however a mate and I ordered the roasted steak medium rare and mine came out perfectly pink and tasted good however another had his served well done and when bringing it up with our waiter said it’s fine and walked off. Other than that atomsphere was alright with mediocre food and poor service which ended with 30 minutes from ordering the bill to receiving it after multiple requests for it and then expected a tip. Family run and family friendly restaurant with local cuisine. With seating in a courtyard to get away from the buzzing Vico Equense town center. Serviceminded waiters and well made pasta aldente. We all had different choices and were satisfied and happy when we left. Recommended to us from the staff in our hotell ”le Axidie”. The main waiter also made sure we got back ok to the hotel with a late call to the reception to bring back the shuttle, Le Axidie is down by the Marina, ”long walk”!!
