Cappuccetto Rosso is a lovely bistrot in the city centre of Vigevano, across the road from the gotic church of S. Pietro Martire, next to one entrance of the Renaissance Castello Sforzesco, and a short stroll away from Piazza Ducale. Many will recommend them for the tasty food or the breakfast or the frozen yogurth: while all of it is certainly true, I comment them for their excellent taste in the matter of local wines (from the Oltrepo region) and the tasty accompaniments. Extremely disappointing experience — never going back.

Out of my two-month trip in Italy, this was by far the worst customer service I encountered. The staff was rude, unprofessional, and completely unwelcoming. When my baby’s ice cream started melting, I quickly grabbed a plastic cup from the counter to help — instead of understanding, the employee snapped at me and demanded payment, claiming it was a “high cost for the owner.” Another employee insisted I pay €0.50, even though I offered immediately.

I had also paid for water, which they forgot, and when I asked for it as I was leaving, it was dropped on the table without a word. No apology, no kindness , not even a smile.

I tried speaking Italian to be respectful, but they made no effort to communicate or help me as a tourist. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Esperienza estremamente deludente — non ci tornerò mai più.

Durante i miei due mesi di viaggio in Italia, questo è stato senza dubbio il peggior servizio clienti che ho ricevuto. Il personale era scortese, poco professionale e totalmente sgarbato. Quando il gelato del mio bambino iniziò a sciogliersi, presi rapidamente un bicchierino di plastica dal bancone per evitare che cadesse — invece di capire la situazione, l’impiegata mi ha rimproverato e ha preteso il pagamento, dicendo che era un “alto costo per il proprietario.” Un’altra dipendente ha insistito che pagassi €0,50, nonostante avessi già offerto di farlo subito.

Avevo anche pagato per una bottiglietta d’acqua che si sono dimenticati di portarmi. Quando l’ho chiesta mentre stavo andando via, l’hanno lasciata cadere sul tavolo senza nemmeno una parola. Nessuna scusa, nessuna gentilezza — nemmeno un sorriso.

Ho cercato di parlare in italiano per rispetto, ma non hanno fatto alcuno sforzo per comunicare o aiutarmi come turista. Non consiglio questo...

Ho avuto un’esperienza davvero deludente in questo posto. Sono stata una cliente abituale, spendendo spesso dai 20 ai 30 dollari per caffè e gelati, ma dopo oggi non ci tornerò mai più. Il personale è stato estremamente scortese e poco professionale. Il gelato del mio bambino stava cadendo, così ho preso un piccolo cono che era lì a vista. Una delle ragazze mi ha detto in tono molto sgarbato: “Devi chiedere prima!”. Le ho risposto che bastava spiegarmelo gentilmente, e avrei pagato senza problemi. Poi un’altra ragazza con i capelli ricci mi ha detto, sempre in modo maleducato, di andare alla cassa a pagare 50 centesimi. Non mi sono mai sentita così poco benvenuta in un locale che prima mi piaceva. Mi hanno rovinato completamente la pausa caffè con il loro atteggiamento.
