YAMANOE — Restaurant in Akita

My feeling is you should go here for lunch or on an “ordinary” day. Reviews for those are really good.

We went on Christmas. The food was generally good, and a few courses were excellent. On the other hand, it was ¥15000 each; which is more than I’ve spent for a meal in my life.

The very first thing the waitress asked was if we wanted a drink. I assumed it came with the meal. It did not. Even at ¥15000 per guest. I’d also say - don’t order the Limoncello. It was my first time and I found it to be all but flavor-less. I’d complain less if it was included.

One course was some kind of smoked fish or meat (sorry, I’m writing this 2 months after the fact). That was admittedly one of the most dramatic courses I’ve ever had: smoke inside a glass cover that wished out upon opening to reveal the course. Very nice. The dessert was cute.

On the other hand, each course was small. Yes, there were 10 courses, but we were a bit hungry afterwards. We also felt somewhat “forgotten” now and then. That could be a function of the fully booked condition.

In the end, it was good. We just can’t say it was really that close to “¥15000 per person good”. I’d go when it is more...

Had an amazing four course meal at Yamanoe! In fact, we went for the first time two weeks ago, and had to come back and do it again. Thanks to the passionate and talented chef, and professional service, the experience was unforgettable. Fresh pasta sauces, perfectly cooked meats and fresh seafood. Not over priced!! Everybody living or visiting Akita should come and dine here. Cant wait to come...

ランチで家内と伺いました。 ちょっと急な予約にもかかわらず、快く引き受けてくださったこと感謝いたします。 最初にお店に向かった時、大きな通りに面しているにもかかわらず正直どこにあるかわかりませんでした。(^^;) それくらい目立たない佇まいで、まるで普通の民家のようです。建物の中も落ち着いたというかレトロというか、レストラン感があまりなく、私たちが通された奥の個室はまるで友人の家に招待されたような錯覚に陥りました。これがとてもイイ！不思議な高揚感のまま食が進みました。 出てくるメニューも一つ一つが丁寧なつくり。 美しい盛り付け。生きた素材。際立つ味。 一品一品運ばれ口にするたびに、スパイス調合の会社で働いていたことのある家内が「うわっこれおいしっ」とこちらに「うまいよビーム」を出してくるのが痛快でした(´∀｀) 手長エビのパスタサイコー！！ 牛ホホ肉の赤ワイン煮込みホロホロ過ぎでナイフいらないー！！ 最後のデザートまで抜かりなしの大満足で、我が家のとっておきの時のリピート店になりました。 今度はディナーでお世話になります。 あ、このお店唯一の欠点は「駐車場が狭い」ので、来店は予約より少し早めにした方が良いかも。 ちなみに当日駐車場で困っていると、お忙しいのに店主さんがわざわざ出てきてくれて、一生懸命車を誘導してくれました。ありがとうござ...
