Hiiragi — Restaurant in Aomori

Glad we dined here at the suggestion of our hotel’s staff. Place was bustling with locals on a Wednesday evening, which is always a good sign!

The restaurant offers both sushi/sashimi and cooked food those who prefer not to consume raw food.

We requested for a cooked food course meal incorporating beef, seafood, and vegetables and the owner (who is also the head chef) was super accommodating. We ended up with a 8-course meal tailored to our requests. We had a whooping three different types of steaks, all of which were melt in your mouth, abalone, scallops, grilled vegetables, garlic fried rice served with a side of fish miso soup and ice cream to end off. All for a very reasonable price. Seafood and vegetables were so fresh. Every dish was sensational and seasoned to perfection - no frills, just enough to bring out the best in each ingredient. Made us wonder how good the sushi / sashimi would have been had we we opted for that, since the head chef specialises in that.

Chefs and staff were so warm, welcoming and friendly, and made the effort communicate and chat with us (with some help from Google translate) despite the language barrier, and how busy the restaurant was.

Lovely little place, I was the only foreigner there but the staff were absolutely amazing and loved a good chat and made me feel at home! Not to mention the food was also so good! Definitely going back next time I’m in...

心グループで唯一行ったことない店だったので初めて行きました。 他店でも気持ちのいい接客をしてくださりますが、こちらも大変活気があり素晴らしかったです。いろいろ頼みましたが提供も早く、どれもまんべんなく美味しかったです。

個人的に残念に感じた点 鉄板焼き屋さんが初めてで、目の前で焼いてくれるライブ感等はとても楽しめましたが、お皿に盛り付けられて出てくる頃には『せっかく鉄板で焼いた感』がなくなってしまっているように感じました。カウンターでこうなら、テーブル席ではそれが鉄板焼き料理なのかフライパンだったのかはわからないような。 鉄板ごと提供しジュージュー言ってた方が嬉しいと感じました。 鉄板焼きメニューのなかで比較的安価な牛タン、人気メニューランキングにも入っていましたが、味がなく驚きました(食感はとてもよかった)。まずいとか美味しいではなく、味がなく…これは焼き方なのか素材なのかわかりません、素材そのままで臭みがないなら100点なのでしょうか？...
