Smile Hotel Aomori — Hotel in Aomori

A clean and inexpensive hotel to stay at, but I only gave it four stars due to the check in service and the fact that our first room had a strong cigarette smell. Luckily the manager took over the check in process and made things smooth again. We stayed in the economy twin room which was only ¥5,000 for the night. It was a little small but it did have two beds which were a bit firm but very comfortable. The room also comes with a flat screen tv, mini fridge, work desk and plenty of wall sockets with USB for two people. The shower/bathroom was a little small, but anyone under 6 foot should be okay. There are also all kinds of amenities that come with the room. Air cleaner, pants press, hair dryer, pajamas, hair brush, tooth brush and tooth paste, razor, tea and loofah.

The big surprise was the all you can eat breakfast bar that came with the room price. The food was amazing and it was a pretty impressive selection including the drink bar. The staff were very polite and professional with a very nice dining room. It was a great way to start the day!

The staff are really helpful and friendly, and have had a better grasp of English than some larger hotels I have stayed in. Only 3500Y for a single room and breakfast. Great location. My only gripe, and it is quite a major one is that the hotel is not non-smoking. The 3rd floor where I stayed stank of cigarette smoke all the time, as soon as I entered my room I opened the windows, which it being summer helped. Still too chilly to keep open at night. A cheap hotel in Aomori. Not far from the city center. It's clean, the hotel personnels are nice and able to communicate in English. The equipment of rooms is above my expectations (taking into account the price) - there is a separate bathroom, a little fridge, hair dryer, kettle... Everything you might need.
