ASPERGES — Restaurant in Biei

This was one of the highly acclaimed restaurants in Biei, so of course I had to go! Surely, it didn’t disappoint!

Biei is very well known for its agriculture and Asperges has taken advantage of this by carefully crafting the menu with only Biei’s finest. They are definitely all about “farm to table.

The menu consists of primarily vegetables, all lightly seasoned to bring out its sweetness and natural flavor. I loved the potatoe purée for its texture and the 20 veggie salad for its variety. The grilled pork from the 3600yen set was also excellent- tender, juicy and flavorful!

Dishes were well executed. We went for dinner. We loved the salad of 20 vegetables. The salad dressing compliments the freshness and subtle sweetness of the produce. Potato soup was heavenly.. there is just something about hokkaido potatoes, they just taste so good. Main course of beef fillet was beautifully done accompanied by stewed onion which taste so sweet and rich. Dessert was ice cream, olive oil and cracked black pepper. The reception was rude. I tried to tell him that we’ve asked the staff of hotel to reserve the seat but we don’t know if they made it because they will call when the restaurant opens but we already check out at that time. The staff of hotel said we can come to this restaurant and see if there is the reservation they made for us. However, the reception neither wanted to listen what we said, nor checked if there is our reservation. He just kept saying there is no seat and wanted us to go away!
