I stumbled across this place when I was walking around Makuhari and I couldnt be happier about it. Once I was in I felt like I entered a gate to a different realm. Obviously, restaurants like this will always be a bit over the top with its decoration and details, however, it's not negative but rather amusing and has its charm. The food is solid and they offer various dishes. It's possible to sit upstairs and enjoy some calm times with friends and business partners or just relax downstairs and engage with other people. Speaking about the people. I went back to Cala Montjoi for a couple of times and had the opportunity to exchange with various local regulars. And this is, in my opinion, the most interesting aspect of the restaurant. It's narrow, so it's easy to talk to others. The Japanese people that speak English are very interested in having a nice chat and to learn more about you and even the ones that are not able to speak English too well are more than happy to join the action. Some of the staff even speaks Spanish. With a few beers, body language and hand signs, the whole thing can turn into a great fiesta.
