EN/繁中 Since I arrived a bit early, the staff asked if I was okay with finishing by 7:00 PM because they had reservations for later. Although I can understand Japanese, I'm not great at speaking it, but the chef knows some basic English, so I was able to quickly order my sushi and the sake to go with it. The chef was really friendly and made sure to explain each sushi dish he served.
The sake he recommended was smooth and sweet, with a natural fragrance and a subtle rice aroma that paired perfectly with its sweet taste. For the sushi, I opted for the 10-piece set that the chef recommended. I can’t really describe each piece in detail, but the flavors were absolutely delicious. Everything was perfectly balanced—each piece was flavorful without being overwhelming, and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients.
The sushi rice was spot on—just the right texture, and it complemented the fish perfectly. The sake paired with each piece of sushi added a nice delicate sweetness that tied the whole meal together.
To finish, the miso soup with clams was amazing—it brought out a savory, briny flavor that was perfect. And the matcha had no bitterness at all, just a rich tea fragrance.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting this place. It’s definitely worth planning a special trip just for the sushi. One thing to note is that I learned from talking to other guests that this place usually requires a reservation, especially on weekends. So, if you want to try it, it’s a good idea to book...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to have this wonderful little sushi restaurant recommended to us by a local friend, and it did not disappoint! We were made individual Ngiri pieces by a sushi chef standing right in front of us at the chef’s counter. Each piece melting in our mouth. Service was incredible with our water glasses unobtrusively being filled every time they got below halfway. The staff were all so friendly, and as the only non-Japanese people in the place we were farewelled by all remaining customers when we left, which was...
Read moreThis was likely my fifth or sixth visit to Maruman Sushi, and it never fails to impress. Each piece of sushi is a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with an artistry that elevates the dining experience. The selection of alcohol is equally commendable. Naturally, such quality comes at a premium, but it is well worth the experience. I did, however, deduct one star due to the portion size—while the sushi is exquisite, I believe slightly larger portion sizes would better justify the...
