Came over twice for cheap, fresh, and delicious sushi and seafood sets. Tried their signature tuna belly sushi, fresh uni, fried tempura, and many more seafood. Firstly, be ready for a queue and to wait either for take-outs or dine-in. Staff are all friendly, welcoming, and professional. Ambiance was comfortable and cozy with an efficient layout for ordering and getting the food. Drinks and sauces were self-service. If going for dine-in, please remember to write your alias and no. of pax down in the book at the stand. The staff will call out once the table is ready. Food prices, portions, and quality are very good. In fact, the most value for money in whole of Hakata. The only thing is the crowd and waiting time. Overall, I really enjoyed the dining experience and services provided. So, I'm giving them a good 5 star rating. Highly recommended to come early for the fresh and delicious sushi...

First time for me to try. Sushi are fixed price at Yen120 each at time of review. Lots of people so we had to wait, you have option to take out, where you can go directly to selecting without queuing with dine in customers.

I found it a bit more stressful to eat as people tend to be slow in deciding, holding up the line, queue jumping by takeout people also was observed. When I asked why there is no Salmon Sushi, I was told, whatever is there is the ones available, but 10mins after there was salmon, but when people in front of you take 10pcs at a time, then you can lose chance of getting some. I guess the problem is the chefs arent managing the selections properly. Overall it was still fun, but I would rather eat at a Kaiten sushi, where I dont have to line up and even deal with people who dont leave...

Hakata Toyoichi is a popular spot known for its sushi, but despite its popularity, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. While the ambiance is lively and the service is attentive, the sushi quality falls short compared to other places in the area. The fish didn’t seem as fresh or flavorful as anticipated, and the overall presentation didn’t quite match the reputation the restaurant has built.

That said, it’s still a decent option if you’re in the area and looking for a casual sushi experience, but if you’re a sushi enthusiast or looking for top-tier quality, you might want to explore other options nearby. It’s a busy, bustling place, so it’s clearly a favorite for many, but for me, it didn’t stand out in terms of...

If you're at Bayside Place Hakata and craving seafood, Hakata Toyoichi is worth a visit—but temper your expectations. The sushi here is incredibly cheap, but the quality is just okay. It’s more of a budget-friendly spot than a destination for top-tier nigiri. That said, the real highlight is the grill. They serve super fresh seafood—some of it still alive when it hits your table. The shellfish and crustaceans are the stars, and grilling them yourself adds a fun, interactive element to the meal. Come for the experience, stay for the freshness of the seafood on the grill. Skip the sushi if you're picky, and focus on what they do best.
