Very disappointed ! Tonight I have a dinner at Sola Bayside place ! Friends told me that it will be the future Michelin guide star awarded restaurant, and it is the reason why i went to a dinner there, but i really think the level is not here ! Really good cafeteria level, but not a restaurant !....The worst was the ham egg !? I really feel i was eating my morning at home! But it's my own opinion, and i think that i'm a little bit severe in my judgement, so please go to try, and make me a comment please! Thank you !
Bad point on the Service staff too. They are all in jean"s and basket! They try to be friendly, but it's not a reason that able them to speak together, with no attention to customers...make me feel very bad...
Take a look at the pictures :
1/No table cross on the table ! It's like in a cafeteria !? I don't like the napkin too ! ... very strange ! In fact ! 2/Table made of simple wood !? All the tables, the counter, and furnitures are made of the cheapest conglomerate wood you can find : take a look at the table picture to have an idea.... 3/ unique menu with no choice for 10 000 yens ! Pay attention at one thing : they even don't ask you for allergy! ..Neither not what you cannot eat !? 4/ expensive wines list! I'm a wines specialist, and the wines list seems very expensive ! The service were very unprofessional too ! I will agree with the very expensive price of the wines list if the service was good, but it's not the case ! Take a look at my picture ,they use a bordeaux glass to serve you a burgundy !?... I took a bottle of chenin blanc from south africa and it was the same glass, i took a Bottle of Crozes Hermitage and they give me a bordeaux glass for old vintage !? incredible !?... They don't change your knife and fork! The same from the start to the end ! Bistrot ?!.... But the service charge is very expensive! Check the bill ! 5/ food as like as simple bistrot level : low quality food and low level coocking...! Ikura is a little bit expensive, but look a the portion ! Very small ... After that it's the same ! No premium foods! Only the cheapest :chicken pate, egg, abalone,Pork !? ... 6/littles flies everywhere too for animation !? ..... 7/and the 600 yens water !? Carafe on the picture! They don't even told you what type of water...
Read moreThe restaurant is located in an unlikely place next to some sort of day care center. But once inside it looks perfectly fine, a large window with plenty of natural light and you can observe the staff in action in the open kitchen.
The multi course menu is well thought out and prepared with care. The presentation is superb, and the ingredients are flavorful and I was especially impressed with the scallop with seasonal vegetables and herbs, the ingredients complimented each other and blended very well. The main dish was venison meat that was grilled to perfection and full of flavor, without the gaminess.
The best feature of the course is probably the price. For under 9000 yen this 6 course lunch simply cannot be beat. Though they do try to make some profit by selling wine at 1500-3000 per glass of 100ml, for a meal like this I'd need 3-4 glasses easily :)
Preparing meals with multiple ingredients and sauces takes manpower, that's why they have over 10 people in the kitchen. Some of the staff speak very good English, helpful for visitors though I suspect most customers are Japanese.
Overall it's a very pleasant meal and I'll be back to check out the dinner if I can secure a dinner reservation. I think they deserve a Michelin star. Their food is easily better than lots of 1 star restaurants, that before you take the modest price...

The restaurant is located in an odd location and after having trekked up to Hakata Port where the Port Tower stands I found myself in a building featuring souvenir shops. But after ascending the stairs to the second floor, what awaited me was truly exquisite and enjoyable food.
I had elected to do the wine pairing as well, and most of them were very well thought out and conceived of. I must give particular praise to the Salmon Galette which featured tarragon, a perennial favorite of mine, and a well-chosen Chablis.
Atmosphere felt open and warm. Compared to the building it sits in, it very much feels like an 異次元 or pocket dimension of sorts.
Service was excellent, and English speaking staff were also available. Even if they spoke none however do not let that deter you from visiting if you consider yourself a lover of...
