I saw reviews about this place that they ate here prior to exploring Ohori Park, and since that was my plan for my family, we decided to do the same.
Came here with my wife and kid at 2 PM (lunch was till 2:30 only). We were able to sit down with no wait. However, there was only 1 okonomiyaki left so my wife ordered it as part of the lunch menu. We also ordered noodles (which was average, so don’t order that).
The chef (and owner, I am assuming) was a lady in red whose name could be Mimi? She was friendly and accommodating. She was so enamored with our kid that she even gave him free miso soup, free sweets (and even took a photo).
The okonomiyaki was the best I’ve had. And we left full enough for the half day of walking around Ohori and the castle ruins.
The place is very small, and cramped (maybe max 10 seats). So I am sure it can get crowded, and a line can form outside.
I dislike the fact that I smelled like food and the frying pan upon going out. And I was disappointed that she ran out of okonomiyaki (my wife and I had to share).
So, be warned. You could go there only to find out that the okonomiyaki is sold out. But if you do get to order it, you won’t be disappointed. It is delicious. Plus Mimi was a gracious host.
We paid 1,800Yen for lunch menu of okonomiyaki and rice and miso, plus the fried noodles. A reasonable...
Read moreI went for a dinner last night and the food was so delicious! Okonomiyaki pork was so good, fresh veggies and yummy home made mayonnaise. The owner of this shop is very friendly and always smiling, it give you a warm welcoming and nice atmosphere-vibe. The restaurant is very small so you have to get early or book in advance, otherwise you'll have to wait a little bit outside. Convenient prices and really big portions, so it's a plus if you are a little bit hungry ( you can order different sizes too), it's just 5min walking distance from Ohori-koen, so it's a perfect spot to grab and support a local restaurant. I'll be go...
Read moreIt's rather difficult to find a restaurant serving vegetarian/vegan okonomiyaki, so you definitely shouldn't miss this restaurant when in Fukuoka. Absolutely authentic okonomiyaki restaurant with the nicest owner ever. Just ask for the vegan menu (you can always ask to add egg/cheese if you're vegetarian) and say yes when asked if you want to add pickled ginger. :) Just as a side note - the okonomiyaki here is different from the Hiroshima version of the dish, which I knew until then (Hiroshima okonomiyaki comes with noodles) but I absolutely loved it and I would say I even...
