Incredible outstanding private dining omakase experience that is surprisingly very affordable. Sushi Aso is tucked away in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood, with very discrete sign that points to the second floor. (Turns out the owner lives nearby and is very particular on the quality of what is put on the menu). From the beginning we were cared for by very attentive and swift staff who were fluent in English as well. Sitting along a small counter of only 6 seats, it was a theatrical experience before you as you watch each bite being prepared, interspersed with hot dishes coming from the back kitchen. After dining at many omakase restaurants, I can wholeheartedly say that Sushi Aso is the highest quality. Beyond just the freshest ingredients they focus on texture, mouthfeel, flavour combinations, chef interaction and seasonality. They were also generous in everything they did to make us enjoy the meal. Will definitely arrange...

In a residential area, where signboards are prohibited so look for a small white sign with tiny letters and go up the stairs and ring to be let in. Six seats at the bar, and one private room. We walked there, which is uphill, but there’s a small coin parking lot nearby.

If you're truly passionate about food, this experience is up there with the best. The sushi was sensational, and watching the chef craft each dish was a real joy. If we spoke Japanese, we would’ve gotten even more out of the experience, but Google Translate did the job! I’d definitely return if time permitted on this trip.
