If this restaurant were in New York or Paris, you'd never get a table. It would be booked out months in advance, written up in every glossy magazine, and impossible to keep secret. But it's here, in Fukuoka, quietly nestled into a residential street just far enough from the buzz of city center to feel like a discovery.
My wife and I have visited well over 200 cities around the world, and this was easily one of our favorite meals in decades of travel. The restaurant itself is small—maybe 13 seats at most. Floor-to-ceiling windows open the space to the calm of the neighborhood outside.
The owner-chef welcomed us with genuine warmth. He was more than happy to walk us through the focused menu, explaining the ingredients and what made each dish special. We chatted briefly at the end of each meal (twice dining in as many days) and learned he opened the restaurant just a month ago, having moved to Fukuoka for his kids. That alone made the experience feel personal—but then there was the food.
This is the kind of cooking that doesn’t try to impress with tricks. It’s confident and clear, with every ingredient chosen for a reason. In the set menu, gyoza and sushi to begin: clean, delicate, exactly right. A thoughtful, deeply satisfying take on Hakata ramen followed (but the Spicy Tomato ramen really impresses), and finally a dessert that included fruit grown by the chef himself—simple and somehow unforgettable. Not a single bite felt like filler.
We’ve had our share of unforgettable meals around the world, but this one stood out—not because it was flashy, but because it was honest. Everything about this felt intentional, warm, and...
Read moreMy husband is a vegan so whenever we travel we look for restaurants he can enjoy. In Fukuoka, there is SO much delicious food but it's very hard to find vegan dishes. I was so happy to find this restaurant, so he could feel relaxed and special. It is a very small and charming restaurant with only 2 tables in a very quiet neighborhood about 20 minutes by car from the Nishijin station. We took an Uber/taxi because we'd had a long day walking already, but it could be walked. The restaurant had no exterior signage so it was a little tricky to find it at first. But inside it is very delightful! The chef/owner Nino is extremely kind and dedicated. The vegan tempura was probably my favorite. The vegetables were so fresh and beautiful. My husband enjoyed the "chicken" karaage made from something like gluten. And then we all had the spicy vegan ramen. It was very flavorful. It had kind of an Italian taste, which makes sense because the chef used to cook in an Italian restaurant. He said everything on the menu also doesn't have garlic or onion, which surprised me. Oh, I also loved his homemade ginger beer. Very refreshing. At the end he also gave us a complimentary piece of vegan tiramisu. A wonderful vegan,...

This is easily one of the best if not the best vegan place I've been to in Japan ! The owner is alone and makes everything from scratch and in front of you, it's truly wonderful.
We arrived with a bit of waiting and he offered us 4 bottles of water and recommended we go to a nearby small traditional garden while the tables get freed, he was so nice ❤️ The temple was wonderful and the waiting time was even shorter than predicted.
We ordered a lot of everything and it was all so flavorful, mastered like a pure chef with a perfect balance in every meal. The sushi especially, which he told us were from his grandmother's recipe were something out of this world 🤩
You cannot go wrong here, he even offered us dessert for 6 so he is a good trader as well. We talked a bit in the end and he's so sweet, trying his best and you can see he likes what he's doing, it's beautiful !
Only opened since late May 2025 but it's gonna be a classic in no time I'm...
