Gyoza center is a must eat at place in Hakone! We came here on a rainy/snowy day and it was quite busy because it was a weekend. We were maybe the 5th party in line but it went by really quickly. The decor inside is so cute and the service is very fast, this was the perfect place to stop to get a delicious meal and get out of the cold. We ordered a bunch of different things. We got the edamame, the boiled gyoza, the deep fried gyoza, the deep fried chicken wing gyoza, hakone gyoza, and corn gyoza. The hakone and corn gyoza are the two regular pan fried ones. Everything we ate was delicious, but the chicken wing gyoza and the pan fried gyozas were my favorite. I’d never had a stuffed chicken wing before, but it was so delicious and juicy and offered a unique combination of textures with the fried chicken on the outside. It’s a must get item!
Both of the pan fried ones had such a delicious light crisp skin, so I don’t think you could go wrong with any of those.
My boyfriend’s favorite was the boiled gyoza because you could really taste the flavors more without the fried outside and the broth was warming and delicious as well.
The deep fried regular gyoza was still tasty, but I would probably skip it to make more room for the others next time as it tasted more similar to a deep fried egg roll.
Definitely stop by here if you’re in Gora, and make sure you order a bunch of food! It all comes out quick and you’re going...
Read moreWe can confirm that this place is a bit overrated, food-wise. There aren’t many options in Hakone that aren’t fancy places so we gave this place a shot. I don’t eat pork or seafood so my options were very limited. The gyoza do not have a lot of meat in them, if at all, but everything is cooked in pig lard. Everything has pork in it and all the gyoza are cooked in lard. Yes, all of them. There are some gyoza that are boiled but the broth is still pork. I asked and they showed me a laminated ingredients list in English—they must get that question a lot. I ended up ordering the special salad which was vegetarian (perhaps even vegan ?) and I asked for a bowl of plain udon noodles. My request for the noodles was met with a confused smile but they were very kind and accommodating.
Service is great —everyone is kind, patient, and accommodating. The Coca Cola comes in a tiny glass and my boyfriend ordered a second one because it really isn’t a lot. Not sure why they don’t give you the whole bottle.
Lunch was $18USD for the two of us and we each had a drink and meal and an appetizer. It was very affordable.
If you’re a vegetarian, you’re going to struggle here. My suggestion is to go to the Lawson just down the street to eat which is what I...
Read moreTo be honest, I'm not big on gyozas. I can appreciate a good gyoza from time-to-time, but I wouldn't immediately order it off a menu. However, I'm so glad we went to Gyoza Center for dinner because it was absolutely delicious! It changed my views on gyoza because these were seriously good gyoza. Everything tasted super fresh and was stuffed with whatever filling we chose. They do not skimp on the filling. We ordered fried squid, fried gyoza, crab gyoza, squid gyoza, and deep fried chicken skin gyoza. All of these were absolute winners. These are definitely a bit pricier than the normal gyoza, but definitely worth it if you are on vacation and want to have some tasty gyoza. All the dishes we ordered were enough to feed 2 hungry people. They do have free parking to the left of...
