Decided to try out this place after reading the reviews about the vegetarian food being good. Not many restaurants in this area cater to vegans or vegetarians. I ordered the inarizushi, edamame and cucumbers with house made garlic miso. The inarizushi was overwhelmingly sweet for my taste and I didn't find it that good. The portion was good and each piece was quite big however I couldn't finish it. The cucumber pieces with the miso were also not the best. The miso was sweet and the garlic flavour was somehow not well balanced. Edamame was standard. The service was quick, the ambience was traditional and one may like the food if they like it to be on the sweeter side.

I think 2 stars for convenience and some vegan options although it was super basic. Vegan options were truly no better than konbini food. He was out of the tofu so we got the vegan sushi (cucumber roll and pickled root vegetable rolls), inari, and edamame. I'm from Manhattan so there are plenty of inventive innovative vegan sushi. Nothing of substance here so you'll be hungry again very quickly. Nothing personal against the master as this seems to be standard across Japan. But today we'll be better off cooking for ourselves.

Small cozy shop, quite unassuming if you ask me. The food served I must say have met expectations. The couple working in the shop are friendly, and they do their best to accommodate foreigners, with their English menu. The quality of food exceeded expectations for this small shop and the food is reasonably priced. One would expect since they are located in a touristy area, the pricing would be off the charts. Would highly recommend dropping by if you are visiting the area. It is located right next to the open air museum.

A fantastic traditional Mom and Pop Sushi Place in the Hakone area; we had the pleasure of being seated at an off-peak time, and the food was terrific. I will reiterate the message from the restaurant, "don't waste the local resources (rice) if you are not going to be able to finish it." It takes a lot of hard work to put that on your table. Please respect these small business and their suppliers; that is the least you can do. Thank you for the beautiful experience and for allowing me to consume the excellent food...
